What will Buddy get?
The three similar incidents they showed on AFL 360 from previous rounds suggests that there is an equity issue here. There is no obvious difference to suggest that a medium impact grading should only be applied to the incident from this weekend. An appeal, on that basis, should win.Last edited by Matty10; 26 July 2021, 08:32 PM.Comment

Buddy is lucky Derm wasn’t seeking a custodial sentence … or the death penalty.Comment

I didn't think it looked like much, at the time or when replayed, and certainly not warranting as much media discussion as some commentators seem to think.
But I agree the rest might do him good. Might get some nice relaxing family time, they must be close to out of quarantine?Comment

We should appeal. Joke of a decision based on the 3 other similar ones this year.
If we don’t appeal it potentially is a good chance to freshen up Bud before finals, which wouldn’t be a bad thing given his history in finals for us and being/playing injured.Comment

Maybe it’s a shame he didn’t elbow a swan - only a fine for that.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

"Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct, Medium Impact, High Contact."
I'm curious as to the nature of the evidence that informed the assessment of 'Medium Impact'. That's the question I'd ask if I were a reporter or the Swans.Comment

I think the grading of medium impact was arrived at so there would be a weeks suspension, cart before the horse thinking
The VFL got it wrong way back when they graded Astbury? as low impact, that should have been a week then all that followed would have rightly been a week and we might have seen flying arms not used any more.
Lets be honest, fining an AFL player $1000 does absolutely nothing to stop these incidents but suspensions may?Comment

Clearly, Swans are not a protected species.
Don't try beating your dog with a feather brush; you might go to prison. But you can bake a swan in the oven and every footy journo will come to your dinner party.Comment
