The AFL site reports that Ryder has been ruled out for this weekend's game, and also that Jack Billings has injured a hamstring and so is also out. (Not sure that the latter is necessarily a positive for us.)

I suspect they will still allow professional sport, albeit with further restrictions. They allowed games to continue during their most recent lockdown. Even the Queensland government allowed the NRL to resume on the Sunday after they went into sudden lockdown last weekend.

I'm not a fan of Billings but I wouldn't be that harsh on him. He's played a handful of great games - something Tambling never did - but those seem to come out of the blue, and his normal contribution seems to be a long way short of his very best.

Just read that Tasmania has cancelled the game that was due to be played in Launceston this weekend due to a Sydneysider breaching border restrictions and subsequently testing positive.

I'm leaning toward bringing in Stephens for Bell, and giving him a hard tagging role on Brad Hill. It's a good matchup and one that Stephens should be able to handle. If he does it well, it will be a big contribution to a winning performance. If not, Stephens will know he needs work on his game to play AFL footy.

Now let's see if the tagging role is a go as well.
