Reid is a funny one. His experience and ability to read play remains good, but his kicking is terrible at the moment, and can't afford to waste gilt edge chances in front of goal come finals time. McLean did his chances no harm tonight - I like him, and Amartey at times has done well."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Thank you Colin O'Riordan. You had 4 telling kicks and were prepared to move it on quickly when the game was in the balance. Clearly a better proposition than the statue no.43. Have to come into the side. Your run and carry and take the game on style suits how we play.Comment

Intrigued by Campbell being played as a small forward.
Interested in Barracudas assessment of Campbell’s game as a small pressure forward.
Does Sam Wicks have any danger in Campbell taking his spot for finals?Comment

Wolfy, I am not a fan of Melican. He is as slow as treacle and as a lock down back he fails badly. On a lead up player he gets done like a dinner. He only kicks the ball 15 metres and has no want to move the ball on. A stodgy, risky conveyance for mine.Comment

By the way, Melican looked really sore in the locker room after the game. He could hardly walk. He couldn't even keep up with Blakey.Comment

We held on. Wonderful what fear can achieve at times!
And while I was upset at Blakey's injury I was pleased to see COR taking on the responsibility and assuring us that he knew what to do. He is particularly good at the fast relatively flat kick he does so well. I wish more of our players could instead of invoking Hail Mary.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I read a report on the match ..it says that Kennedy had a hamstring twinge toward the end

We can just add Melican to the list. There's Cunningham, and then there's Hayward, and well, you can just fill in the rest. Melican will draw a lot of confidence from your commentary.

I simply thought Barracuda could dissect the Campbell v Wicks small forward discussion and really ad some value to the discussion. Yes I could ask privately, but I believe his response would be interesting to many readers of the forum.Comment

In the end, I was happy enough to come away with the win tonight. We played well in patches tonight although our third quarter was below par. At times we looked a class above but did not convert whereas they did. We need to get better but we can.
I thought that Hickey was back to his best tonight. JMc was great in the first half but seemed to fall away in the second half. The Lizard provided great drive until injured. Fingers crossed on his injury! Parker such a key player. Wilbur was dangerous up forward. Great to see Campbell back too.Comment

Enjoyed seeing Campbell back. He has those fast twitch muscle fibres - extra pop in everything he does. Should stay in.
I think we need to find a way to bring Warner back in next week.
The game was sloppy, but can't really fault them for that playing a dead rubber after months on the road.Comment
