Agree with all that. I think Colin might get a run next week.

I'd like to think a general attitude of just doing enough to win (and maybe hub life is wearing thin?) lead to our less than impressive win and our listless standard of play (from what I've garnered from this thread).....and that we will naturally bring a more focussed attitude and skill level when it matters in the finals.

We were @@@@. It is my honest opinion. The longer the season has gone the worse we have got. We had some really close games against reasonably good sides and then we fall down against the easybeats. How did this mob, who are at this stage of their development @@@@ing ordinary, get close to us. Well look no further than two coaches, the mids coach and the defensive coach. Not only that what about getting the players to play for each other and maintain intensity for a whole game

Way over the top response...in a game that was in some way meaningless, we dominated the game for large parts but didn't cash in and finish them off. When they had heaps of momentum and got close, we stopped them in their tracks and won comfortably
Not an easy thing to do with little at stake. Good effort in the end.

This was a needed win, and we got it. That's what matters. Any result in the finals will be a bonus. A win would be great, but even playing finals is a wonderful thing for us this year.
I’m with you, Daisi. A win in the finals would be great, but to make the finals, and not far off top 4 after the previous two seasons is a terrific result for the club. O’Riordan showed a bit as well when we came on, and I was really impressed with McLean’s game. Pity he didn’t slot that last shot at goal. Hopefully Blakey’s injury isn’t too bad. All in all, it’s been a wonderful season by the team, despite the adversity they’ve had to face.
North aren’t the easybeats they were, as their win-loss (and draw) ratio since the bye shows. Kudos to all the lower rung teams; they’ve really taken it up to their opponents in most games in the latter part of the season.

Third umpire abuse free kick this year. Just seems totally unnecessary to me. He doesn’t need to do that. He is a great playing in good form.

I’m even more dismayed that the commentators were having a laugh about the umpiring abuse free kick and calling him Mr Charisma.

I’m surprised that I’m the only one on red and white not happy with this.
Here we go again with the let’s respect the establishment line ..of course I don’t want him costing us a vital free kick at some point in a big game …and Longmire did have a chat with him ..he plays with energy and heart
I’m sure Longmire just talked to him calmly to redirect his energy a little
No need for a red card or a reprimand because he’s upset your unwavering support for all those you deign with respect…stockbrokers , Eddie McGuire , umpires ..there s a long list of untouchables in your eyes..just from memory of your previous posts

Mate, every player before 2010 would have been done for this - he is passionate. He probably needs to improve but I think he has a few points in the bank so to speak.

Sorry but disposal efficiency does count. Ours, was way down in this match.

Reid’s missed goal was what got them so close IMO.

Savage Centre clearance with a lace out pass 25-30 straight in front. That kick has to be nailed.

I Don’t think the coach was too happy either. Poor discipline can be costly & we are not good enough to give away that many free kicks & 50m.

Of course we don’t condone that rubbish, just not a lot we can go about it during a game from behind a keyboard.

Oh by the way for all those knocking Rowbottom, he was bloody good today. It wasn't his fault certain players can't maintain pressure. He sure did.

Guess they were not trying to hard given they can't improve position but gee, nearly played themselves into a loss and about as unenjoyable a win as you'll see.

Good that Hickey brought some spirit to the final quarter at least.

Wouldn't be surprised to see more of the same next week.

Didn't look good for Blakey unfortunately, so some decisions for the finals team. Wouldn't want to see Dawson go back now, so COR into defence? Offers more than Melican on tonight's showing anyway.

It was a crucial miss and he has a bit of a history of them over the years.
