That’s great news-has there been an announcement?

The team for this week: I think Millsey will play, as his injury is peculiar in that playing can actually help rather than hinder, but of course it will depend on how he trains on Thursday. The 2 weeks in iso didn’t do him any good!

With Joey, I’m afraid the slight hammy may need another week and so should not be risked- once again Thursday will tell. Of course he will want to play, but will put the tea m first!

Chad needs to come in (hello Bangalore and TB!) but who for? If Mills doesn’t make it?
As much as I like McLean, and he played well in the second half, Sammy is needed in a final for his experience and versatility but then again……..

If the MC want Robbie for a match-up, the only spot I can think of is COR’s and he would be stiff to lose it.

Scratching the head……….. over to you Ludwig!

Thanks Uninformed- just saw this: great news indeed! Our coaching panel is great and the football the boys are playing is exciting and terrific to watch- what an improvement on last year!

Thinking about bringing Chad in for GWS: of course depending on Joey and Mills availability. But going on last weeks’ game, dare I say it: thought JR was tentative (please don’t say anything TB and Bangalore) I think the lad is a bit down on confidence following his injury. Hard to decide how best to help him regain form but he needs to offer a bit more. Saying that, I think the lovely goal he kicked would have helped a lot. Maybe the sub this week?

You could see Pyke taking over at GWS if they have a poor year next year (probably unlikely). Cameron is in the last year of his
contract next year. He has become an honorary Sydney person now.

I'm worried about that also. It could be his last game and nothing to lose. He has form!

Wildly off topic but i had to give a 15 min presentation on Douglas Stewart's "Ned Kelly" many years ago after having not read it.

Still get the cold shivers remembering.

                It was not pretty.

I have my ticket to the game on Saturday! Yay! I'm still in a state of disbelief really. I live only 10 mins from UTAS stadium. If the game had been in Hobart I wouldn't have been able to go. It will be only the 2nd game live I've been to since Goodsey's farewell game in Sydney. Last time I saw the Swans play here the aforementioned AG turned the game on its head in the 2nd half and we beat the Hawks. I wonder who is going to be the hero when we knock out GWS on Saturday!

I would love to see Chad in the side, but it's so hard to find someone to drop. My feeling is that if both Mills and Kennedy are out, Chad will be med sub. It's not that bad for someone who has been out for so long. If we can beat the Giants, he has a good chance of working his way into the starting 22. There's also a good chance that a player with a minor complaint will be subbed out in the 2nd half (since the AFL has chosen not to penalize subbing players for just about any reason) and Chad can come in and give us a burst of energy.

I think we have a good mix now, both forward and back. I thought we couldn't have both Fox and COR in the same side, but with Blakey out and being short on midfielders, I think it will work. They both looked good. COR looked quick and pretty sharp for someone who hasn't played much senior footy this year. He doesn't give quite the burst of speed we get from Blakey, but he's not far off, and looks, at this point, to be more comfortable defending, although I'm sure Blakey will get that down pat next year.

I'm actually leaning towards Mills playing this week unless we are resigned to Mills not playing again this season. All the talk has been about his injury being hampered when he had a couple of weeks off so it contradicts to say rest him this week in the hope he gets up for the week after. I reckon if they can get Mills up for at least 75% of the game they will opt to take the risk as we saw he has the ability to impact a game even playing half a game in the weekend. I would also still bring in Chad for this week and have fox remain as sub as he gives the most adaptability for sub as can play medium defender or dashing defender like we saw last week. I don't think Kennedy will come up but should be a certain starter the week after should we make it through. Unsure who goes out for Chad but it may be Campbell, COR or RB.

                          What an outstanding post.

I think if Mills plays then Chad is medical sub.

I think some questions will be asked if Mills leaves the game at half time with the same injury as last week.

The rules are the rules. The medical sub rule allows an injured player to be risked in finals as you have back up.

We should not select Mills unless we think he will be able to play the whole match. Things can go wrong after that and he gets subbed out but if he's selected then it has to be on the basis we believe he can and will play the whole match. No selection of injured players!
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

We have been burnt too many times in finals playing injured guys.

And every time we say 'never again'

I hope we meant it last time.
