    GWS.
Ash, pick 4. Bruhn, 12. Coniglio, 2. Cumming, 20. Green, 10. Greene, 11. Haynes, 7. Himmelberg, 16. Hopper, 7. Kelly, 2. Perryman, 14. Taranto, 2. Ward, 19. Whitfield, 1. (And Hogan was a probable first rounder, taken as a zone access selection).

    Swans.
    Franklin, 5. Florent, 11. Heeney, 18.
Very informative post! It does also highlight that GWS have been pretty good at identifying top end talent, or have all their first round duds escaped my attention?

OK, so what is your desired result for this afternoon's game? I have loathed Essendon for a long time, but they actually play quite an attractive style of football this year (second to ours ), so wouldn't mind if they thump the Bulldogs.

They've had that many first round draft picks that its probably less a case of GWS been going at identifying top end talent, and more a multiplier effect.

I.e. if you have 10 first round draft picks, you might pick 6 good ones, 2 okay and 2 duds. But in the same period GWS has probably had 100 first round draft picks, so thye've managed 60 good ones, 20 okay ones and 20 dud ones if you get what I mean.

The concessions provided upfront to GWS were way too generous, and they are still living off the long term coat tails of those in terms of the top end talent they have on their list. They lose a lot sure, but that's because you can't manage to keep them all under the salary cap (hence why they have a 109 year old Mummy still playing and list fillers like the other Sam Reid running around), but they are still left with a list that has a huge amount of quality on it, and a constant ability to refresh, refresh, refresh because those players bring good draft picks when traded. That is why I feel Cameron has genuinely and consistently underachieved with what he has had at his disposal - they've got a huge advantage over almost everyone (maybe Gold Coast perhaps have had some of the same multiplier effect). It will be a long while yet until you look at the GWS list profile and say 'that isn't stacked with top end talent'.

Zero all draw, both eliminated please.

Ha - hate the fairypuppies, and hate the injectors. Probably essendon just, but couldn't really care.

Like you, I thoroughly dislike both clubs! I'll never forgive 2016, though, and the thought of seeing the umpires' pet Poodles bundled out in week 1 of the finals is extremely exciting! So, for the first time in my life, I say - Go Injectors!

If Essendon win then we drop to 8th in the draft standings, so move up one spot on our picks. Small advantage, but a good enough reason for hoping Essendon win.

Bombers all the way. I hate the injectors, drug cheats and everything about the club... But I hate the bulldogs more. And I think it's permanent. Nothing can placate what happened in 2016.

It's shocking how poorly the Giants have done with their drafting. Anyway, the salary cap catches up with every club. There's a limit to how many top line players a club can have, unless they agree to limit their own compensation for the good of team.

The 'Selwood' duck is a blight on the game. I know Hewett does it and so does Gulden, but I wish they would call holding the ball if the player looks for high contact like this.
