Hope Stephens gets a go , he will smash itComment

You can write 'merde'. The filter doesn't pick it up. See?!
Mills didn't rupture his Achilles. He just has tendinitis, I believe. It is a tricky injury though, because it requires a combination of both rest and work. But what combination? I hope our physio knows.
Anyway, I had JPK as the medical sub or replacement for Mills or Parker. So we should be okay even if Mills isn't quite ready for round 1. Hopefully it's no worse than a delayed start to the season, because he is a critical player.
Here's part of the Physio's report from 12 Aug 2021 on Callum:
It's a really unfortunate situation for Callum after he was a late withdrawal from the game with some Achilles tendon pain.
Callum has been really good with managing his Achilles tendon throughout the year but had a minor setback when he had to go into isolation for 14 days.
His pain worsened and had a setback last week off the back of the Essendon game, but he managed to train okay during the week, but his Achilles flared up during the pre-game warm up.Comment

yep but two guys of the level of Mills and Heeney plus Kennedy makes for very challenging opposition coaching
It is a tricky injury to manage for Mills
Fingers crossed"be tough, only when it gets tough"

We're not doomed. We've got Chad and RB, Stephens, JMac, Heeney even Papa who can play inside. And that's even before we need to turn to our two draftees in Sheldrick and Roberts.Comment

Has anyone else heard where and when for the intra club this friday 4qtrs ?
Was mentioned by Jmac in his interview this week"be tough, only when it gets tough"

If they have another 4 quarter hitout tomorrow then they are super fit.
I watched 3 quarters of about 20 minutes time with full oval and proper umpiring.
Impressive morning from 9am on a hot day. Maybe they bought it forward.Comment

Yes I watched today as I was in Sydney last night. I did get distracted - partly by LRT who was watching with his father and by a young lady who wanted to know what was going on. As an 80 year old, that was indeed a welcome distraction and I barely picked up anything.
1. Stephens was has reversed any 'hesitancy' of last year and was throwing himself about with effective abandon.
2. Gould was 'guarding space' rather than filling a lockdown defensive role. Of course the Coach instructions were totally unknown, but that role went against what I and others are hoping for him in 2022.
3. Bell is a ferocious tackler and seemed to be in lots of contests - didn't always stick marks that he perhaps should have taken but definitely a player with different skills to others.
4. Haywood was 'up the ground' quite a lot.
But really my report is based on fleeting impressions, but it was not gentle on the oval and a very solid session.Comment

Great to hear Stephens getting stuck in. For some players it just takes time to find that confidence to go flat chat at the top level - both in their bodies ability to handle it, and in the confidence of their own skills."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

My guess is that that was it. In the Cox video recently uploaded onto the Swans' site, he describes today's hitout as "the last intraclub". That's a shame as I was planning on wandering down tomorrow, alarm clock permitting. Guess I'll have to find something else to do instead.Comment

Bugger
Had the day planned also to watch the lads run out a 4qtr intra
Oh well, looks like a pretty good day for a long hike."be tough, only when it gets tough"

Me too. If anyone knows for sure whether it's on or not, please advise. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment
