Both, at times. I've been extremely vocal about JMac's endless potential as a winger and want him starting there, but also spoken about his potential inside - as we saw in the Essendon thriller last year when his move into the middle was essential in stemming the slaughter we were copping in there from Parish and Merrett. Ideally, with our emphasis on player flexibility, he can play predominantly as a winger, but roll through some centre clearances now and then.

I suspect Stephens has the same potential - we just didn't get the chance to witness it last year.

Stephens played inside against Norf and was really good. JMac played outside and was sensational. Leave them where they played against Norf

This is what I’m talking about. Imagine Blakey, McCartin and Rowbottom being rubbed out because one got Covid. Or Stephens, MCDonald or the Warner’s. One case and up to three are rubbed out.

Maybe the players can share houses with other young people outside the football industry. It may help them get out of the football bubble. Sharing houses with nurses or young doctors would be perfect. They’re tested every day, work hard and can be a lot of fun.

Are you a logistical wizard BS? If so, offer the Swans your services because I guarantee you, no one at the Swans would be volunteering for this job even if they thought it was a good idea....which they wouldn't. Your concept would increase the 'go home' factor by heaps. Too much isolation and upheaval....the players would not be happy with this situation at all. The lure of home and a more settled life would be too strong.

Move on.....and please don't 'double down' on this folly just because you have been rightly challenged on it.

Stephens not JMac. JMac is too valuable in the role he already plays. If we lose a few maybe Roberts to debut. He was a little off the pace in the GWS game when he came on at the end of the third. But will pick it up.

Bell can also come in. He is a decent replacement.

When one looks around the world - senseless bombing in Ukraine, ongoing civil war in Yemen, totalitarian rule in Myanmar, millions of people having died with/from Covid, thousands of people in parts of NSW and Queensland homeless due to floods etc etc - the possibility of the Swans losing a few players for a footy match, or even of losing a footy match because a few players are missing, doesn't really seem that significant.

I was a bit ambivalent in the off season - but only because I'd never seen him play down back, so didn't know either way. I was also a bit nervous about the concussion issues, and partly because I saw a close mate's son have his sporting career derailed by concussion, and the ongoing effects ripple through the poor kid's entire life. But on that count, I guess I knew the Swans take player welfare seriously so was sure the right decision would be made.

Anyway, let's hope he gets a decent run at it. He's certainly got talent.

I was with you. I was definitely rooting for him, but had absolutely no expectations. This is a spectacular achievement and it has the potential to be transformative for the Swans.
