We've got some good young players. Parker was our best, Heeney, Blakey and Florent not too far behind. Gulden and Campbell will be stars. And having the two Macs in defence will be great. All up, a great team effort.

I thought he was excellent, along with all our onballers. Really lifted in 3rd and 4th when required. Florent bursting away from the contest was a sight to behold. We really have some speed to go with the grunt out of the clearances now. And for his first game, Gus was excellent and should be proud that he has come so far in such a short period of time.Comment

I didn’t see who was tracking Green in the second half but he was noticeably quiet after a big first half.
The defence looked a world apart in the second half and both McCartins made amends for a below par first half. From about the 15min mark of Q3 our back line was solid as a rock
Huge game from Oli, and hoping for a big season from him this year.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Analysing my three headed monster. Blakey was superb, amazing drive from defence. J-Mac couldn’t find it today and Campbell was good. If those three can piece it together it will be exciting.
I’m awaiting TheBloods feedback on Kennedy. I feel strongly that Kennedy shouldn’t be playing half back. I sadly feel that Kennedy is playing like ROK in 2014. Kennedy will become part of omission discussions in the next couple of games.
Parker, Florent and Heeney were great.
The tide is turning against Wicks. Papley will be back soon and I think he should go out. Missed two goals that a player playing his position needs to nail.
Liked Stephens. Confidence rising.
Liked Pat McCartin. Great delivery.
Strong win.

That was intense , what an outstanding win after such an engrossing and tight arm wrestle against a very good team.
Watched it in a pub with a Hawthorn supporter who still reveres Buddy and she was predicting a solid Giants win as they were on top for quite a few stretches.
So to watch the Swans go in a bit harder and draw away was exceptional.
All the players (from both teams) were so pumped to be back playing and it was a very clean game (oh no T. Green).
Too noisy in the Buena, could not get them to turn the music down so not doing that again.
Impressive performance.Comment

I’ve already praised Florent, having wanted more from him. He did that. But one thing I’ve never looked at him as is a natural centre square player. Some of that was defensive weaknesses in there vs his willingness to do that well elsewhere. But I also thought while he’s always covered the ground well, he lacked a dynamic element needed to play centre square. Boy he was good tonight.
I guess I’ve always looked at Shane Edwards as what he should aspire to be as a player. Let’s hope he’s on his way.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Having just listened to Longmire's press conference, the big message that I took out if it, is that McInerney's injury is nothing serious. Apparently it was just a knock to the knee and the thinking is that he should be right for next week.
I also thought that Longmire looked healthy, relaxed and in a good place. Which is nice. Although, the only other press conference that I watched this round, was the Beveridge fiasco. So maybe the contrast, is making John seem that little bit more Zen?Comment

So....we've just won the first match of the season against our nemesis......and here we get tumbleweeds, crickets. I didn't watch the game but plenty did.....and usually you can keep abreast of the game through this thread. Not today. What's wrong with us?
Anyway, a great win by the boys....solid start to the season. Looking forward to the post match analysis from those who saw the game. Roll up, roll up!

From the ground, Parker, Heeney, and Florent were huge. The Giants are a bloody good side and we needed these guys to step up. I’ve said it before but gee I wish Tom Green was with us. He will be a top 3 player in the comp.
The big takeaway from me was the improved defensive set up and individual performance in the second half. It might take a little while to gel completely but that second half was promising zComment

One of the best things bout tonight: we did it without Paps, Lloyd and Warner.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

I think Parker’s game has suffered at times when he’s tried to do too much. I think the lift in quality and experience around him this year could be huge.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment
