Sorry my point wasn't clear. I know it doesn't suit Buddy's style - but having that big name 'target' up forward you look to more often than not seems to encourage it as a default behaviour. And one thing I don't think we've consistently done for any extended time during his time at the club is kick consistently to Buddy's strengths - there has been various times where we've done a better job then others, but he has spent a fair chunk of his time at the club getting some unhelpful service to put it nicely.
At times in recent years, its been a reflection of our skill level often not being high enough to execute consistently a better approach. But its not solely something we only see when playing panicked or desperate football - I can think of plenty of times over the Buddy era, even in wins, where we have made him work much harder then he should by being too shotgun with our ball use.
My point was Buddy leaving might be the nexus to break that habit, not a suggestion we do it because of him. There will be a natural void for some period where we may well not have a dominant forward that is always the first thought in the mind. There may not be of course either, depending on development/recruitment - but we seem to be moving towards an approach where multiple avenues to goal is the default, and McDonald seems a medium term prospect before he really kicks on at AFL level (if indeed he does).
