Early days I know but percentage is so important for a top four finish.
For whatever reason the Roos match up on us well and have given us a close game over the last few years . Last year we only won by 14 points and that was our biggest winning margin for a few years.
A 100 point plus win which some expected was never going to be on the cards.
Percentage is important but I think getting the four points, no matter how poor the performance, was what we required from today.

Blakey so so. Some exciting moments, but a few turnovers or nothing really came from his run.

Tom McCartin was ineffective today, as was Parker and Rowbottom (apart from one great kick).
Don't forget Mills - one of the few who was good for 4 quarters. Also T McCartin was on Larkey, who was completely unsighted. I'll take that from my key defenders any day.

Major kudos to Mills and Campbell, the two who did it for four quarters.

We have an exceptional footballer on our hands in JMac. That was one brilliant quarter. He’s tough as old boots too. He was ok early but one of those occasionally taking the wrong option or running into trouble, but what a will to win he has. I’ve criticised Ollie for things like his first half, so good on him for lifting so much in the second half. And good on Ronke for taking his chances, and Heeney for finding a way.

Someone should slap Ladhams in the head before each game. He certainly came back out with intent and aggression after Goldstein’s stiff arm. Promising signs. Reid’s effort was very good too.

Total stinkers by Lloyd, Gulden and Hayward. And as for Will’s late 50 for abuse, man o man, if we had lost that game because of that I bet he would have tried to duck out of the ground after the game using the exit Chad and Ollie used after Buddy’s 1000th to avoid Horse. Unforgivable.

Good teams find a way to win these tight games.

I don't think we're giving enough credit to the Roos. I thought their pressure was up and they spread better than we did for most of the match.

I also think (and yes it will be unpopular on here at present) that most of the free kicks were there. We were clumsy and got caught holding the ball so many times. The umps could have paid us a few more at times, if they were being consistent.

Anyway, it was good to see Ladhams, Bell and Ronke all put their hands up for next week. A shout out to McInerney and Campbell, who were our best.

Hard to argue with that in regard to both the Roos effort and the umpiring as I mentioned earlier we gave away too many ill disciplined and unwarranted free kicks and 50 metre penalties.
It’s an old adage but the fact is the umpires decision is final

Longmire being very diplomatic about the free kick situation- 60 in a game means one every 2 minutes..says our coach with a wry grin..

I don't understand. I'm pretty sure Rich doesn't go anywhere near centre bounces, so I don't see how you can have Campbell play a similar role to Rich AND attend every centre bounce - they're mutually exclusive.

McInerney: 30 disposals for the match, including 14 in the last quarter, plus 7 clearances and four marks.

He won the game for us single-handed when it was in the balance.

                      Pure class.

Why? Rich is the go to player with a big kick. No reason why Campbell can't go into centre bounces and be a go to player in the midfield.

This is just the way it is in AFL football sometimes free agency works out for us sometimes it works against us. is anybody else thinking we have been seriously missing Dawson.

The one for Franklin was awesome. I will watch the replay for the other two mentioned. I just remember him not being sighted early in the game (did he start on the interchange) and there was the smothered kick and some other not too effective disposals.

Yes, and I forgot to mention Mills and Campbell who also played really well (apart from that really awful kick by Mills that led Kennedy across the D50 which put him in real trouble).

10 marks are many impressive pack marks. Though Logan's goal kicking was poor.
