Hard to make a huge judgment about where we sit given west coast were so poor, but I loved the way we played our footy in the first half. Play with that level of intensity and hard running with a majority of any match, and we could match it with the better sides this year. Key remains consistency, but a lot to like tonight.

Lots of players could call out for excellent games - but I think Ronke deserves a real shout. Has had a pretty bad run with injuries in recent years, and many (myself included) have absolutely at times written him off. But he was great tonight, worked hard, got more then enough of the footy.

We are going along alright indeed - still inconsistent, and not yet put together a really good 4 quarter performance this year. But we are starting to set up our season nicely.

Great game apart from the third quarter and start of the 4th. Some poor moments, like Bell's two turnovers in the first half, Lloyd kick in being picked up and turned into a goal and Tom McCartin being picked off by Ryan for a goal as well.

But so many positives. Ladhams gave so much effort as did MacClean and Ronke. Reid was solid. Rowbottom had a heap of quality inside 50s. Heeney, Mills, Parker, McInerney and Warner were all excellent. Florent, Lloyd and Rampe were a bit of the pace tonight.

Ladhams is a great pick up. It will be interesting to see what his TOG was.

The big positives from a personnel standpoint were Ladhams, Ronke and McDonald. All 3 showed they belong in the team, even if they may be forced out when others come back. The one change I would press for is to keep Ronke in the side, even after Papley gets back. I think we can go with Papley, Hayward and Ronke as our small forwards. Ronke's 19 disposals are impressive for a small forward. He showed good vision and certainly knows where the goals are. Ronke was the 2017 Ludwig Future Star winner, so I'm going to back him in. JMac was the 2019 winner, and he's already exceeded my expectations by a lot; what a great draft selection.

It's good to see us playing the kind of footy that should take us a long way for years to come. The team is still young and there's much work to do on our timing, speed of execution and getting those lapses that leak goals out of our play (which we will need to do if we expect to be teams like Melbourne). We can also be a lot cleaner in our ball use.

WC gave us a lot in the first half, and we took advantage of it for the most part, but still muffed plenty of chances. It's hard to gauge exactly where we are because of the quality of the opposition the past 2 weeks. I would like to see us put together a good game against a top quality side. We will get our chance in 2 weeks when we play Brisbane. Hopefully Buddy and Paps are back for the game. We will need them to fire.

Seriously though, his upward evolution continues.
Back to pressure footy with good contested possessions, great kicking and eventually great finishing. Great to watch but was expected given battered Eagles relying on Uncontested Possessions

Lots of them had great games - Mills, McInerney, Gulden, Blakey, Rowbottom, Warner, McCartins
Surprisingly more involvement than expected - Even though the disposals could be better, Ronke had a good front half game and got involved a lot compared to in the past.
James Bell - Continues to have low disposal count and despite playing a front half game, had only 1 Inside 50 and not sure if he is any better than Wicks. If Papley is back next week, he is at risk of losing out to Ronke.

I meant another good game. The last 3 games were not up to that standard and I would like to see us get back up to that level and beyond in the coming weeks.

Maybe an early call on Ladhams, Nico, but he certainly showed some positives tonight including good aggression at the ball. I thought he was a bit timid last game which is not good for a ruckman. If he can go at it like Nankervis and make some opportunities for his midfielders with good taps and clearing space for them then he is doing his job.

"When the Sydney Swans take on West Coast on Friday the teams will pause to honour the memory of those who died when HMAS Sydney II was lost in World War II.

The Round 5 clash will see the Swans and the Eagles play for the HMAS Sydney II Commemorative Trophy, while the player judged best on ground will receive the perpetual Gun Shell Gallantry Trophy."
Brilliant. A wonderful idea and joint initiative.

Heeney is rapidly moving in to my best 20 Swans players I have seen. I don't think I have seen a more poised footballer.

Incredibly great mark, and very good kick.

Mills is just a champ too - he rarely makes a mistake and picks up heaps of the footy.

Ronke shut me up big time . Someone give him a shot or something ? Keep it up son

Jmac and Gulden are too good . Didn 't love Blakey , was kicking and hoping a bit but his run is fantastic . Mills the midfield leader - life after JPK wont be so bad , but we need the great man back in the mids . Logan fantastic , Mclean makes it hard to drop him but christ he makes some basic errors . Cant fault his effort but starting to think Bell wont make it , brain just always seems to be a few seconds behind his body . Chad fantastic , Heeney becoming a superb leader , Parker better .
