I very much enjoy fictional characters that are irritating, sycophantic and irrelevant. Is it perhaps a literary genius behind the Bangalore character? I am thinking of using the Bangalore character in one of my forthcoming novels. Will he be a hero or anti-hero? I'm still working on it. Maybe I will have the story take place in Bangalore, India.

One of the ingenious features of Bangalore is the way he has converted a forum for fans of the Sydney Swans into a forum about fans of the fans of a Sydney Swans fans' forum.

There is indeed something uncomfortable about BS's idolisation of TB. I find it reminds me a bit of Bruce McAvaney's drooling adulation of Cyril and Buddy, although some have suggested there's a touch the Smithers about it. A year ago it was thought to be rampant onanism, because the pair were assumed to be the same poster.

To be fair BS has also tried it on both Ludwig and Liz, but it didn't seem to take - maybe they didn't provide whatever it is BS is seeking?

Have you tried using the "ignore" button Aprilbr? You will still see other posters reactions (and quotes), but it might reduce the excruciation - is that a word?

I do hope the team takes the Suns seriously, I'm really over inexplicably losing to this mob.

I see no reason to put an ignore on Bangalore, R&R. I enjoy reading some of his comments, although they can be pretty left field suggestions at times eg players not being allowed to share the same house due to Covid risks.

My delicate ego is gutted though by not being included on the list of Bangalore Swans' Forum Posters Hall of Fame. Clearly, a lot more improvement needed if I wish to be a future inductee!

To answer your question, as a pedant when it comes to language and grammar, the correct word is sycophantic. To wit:

"I do wonder too at the sycophantic attitute of Bangalore to TB, but I do think Bangalore's posts usually contain clearly constructed sentences and good spelling - even if he is occasionally prone to subjunctive clauses."

Do we really need to know your thoughts on the people you admire in the world..you have an ego the size of the moon. For a more rounded personality why you don't try having a little less ego and to round your thoughts off with more diversity. He has been writing of late and trying to finish what he says will be a best seller: The World According to Ludwig. Appears he couldn't find a ribbon for his Remington Typewriter, but he managed to find an old Remington, ribbon intact recently at the Chiang Mai tip. I have seen the rough copy, but alas it was quite dog eared and brown around the edges. He assures me when I am in Chiang Mai in June it will be finished.
