Leave TB alone. You're not adding to making the robust conversation you want, but rather prolonging the endless drivel about the same subject. It's well established that we all disagree with TB on Rowbottom, and TB doesn't want to talk about it either. So it's time for us all to let it go. All the cogent points have been made. Nothing more to add.

I’m pretty impressed how our midfield stood up in the second half after Mills was moved back.

Was it having a spare (Horse loves his red time spare tall) or Mills that made the difference down back?

Horse deserves a bit of credit. It’s a pretty ballsy move to shift your best mid to defence. He gave all the responsibility to Warner, Parker, and Rowbottom to do the midfield grunt while Mills settled the back 50.

          Nice summary Ludwig.
Absolutely far too early to pass judgement on Roberts - i'll leave that for a couple more years.
At the start of the year i would have said our best midfield would have definitely included Mills, Hickey and perhaps Kennedy. And now our best midfield performance of the year, given the opposition, occurs without any of them. Don't know if we can draw too many conclusions - but we certainly have some capable alternatives.

At one point in the second qtr Mills was said to have limped off the ground. He came back on and nothing more was made of it. I wonder if this had anything to do with the move down back?

I have been watching a replay of the first 2 quarters and it seems to me that the seeming disfunction of the back half was not as dire as the score made it look. Up forward, Reid, Warner and someone else missed such straight forward gettable goals and Buddy gave away another one. Add those 4 goals to our score and it was just a routine ebb and flow game!

The problem was / is how easy we are to score against (their accuracy did make it look worse) we conceded 11 goals from 22 inside 50s.

Chad is sensational , total package
Ladhams shut me up . How good was his strength ? In everything . Against 2 rucks , 1 of who is a dirty sod !
Roberts will learn and show how good he is . Had similar debut to Chad and Jmac and they are our 2 best young ones now
Missed Blakey , we were slow moving out of defence and shouldnt have needed to put our best mid down there . Lucky it worked. Mills is that good .
Hayward shut me up . Marks and tackles everywhere . Hes all skin and bones so it was tough watching him throw himself around but end of the day thats footy and thats what hes gotta do
How lucky we are to have Lance .
Wicks did not shut me up . If there wasnt someone on here who thinks even less of him as a player i would go on about it !
Thanks TB- you left one player out but we understand. Yes, I plead guilty re Wicks. Hate being down on any of our players but really………
Mills steadied the ship in the backline- he is just class and has football IQ. Thought COR did ok and Paddy was immense. Errol did the gut running as did JMac. Heeney must be carrying something as he is a fraction slower with his decision making and his marking has slipped somewhat. However a great team effort in second half, though our first quarter was better than the scoreboard showed. But the second was bad, period. Don’t know why but the umpiring was defo a factor.

Ladhams was a standout not just the strength ..he has excellent mobility , is highly physical but for a big man I like his subtle skills..the baulk to find space and the calmness to get a handpass away through two opposing players was sumptuous.
                      He's a steal for us.

I thought Ladhams and Soldo looked more like brothers than the McCartins.

Too far away up in the stands to understand the similarities you're alluding to...are they both tall and moustached or do they scrap like brothers

Good spot. One thing I observed with Ladhams after an earlier match was he has excellent hands in tight. He's both fairly clean in collecting the ball, but also a quick handball and usually to the right 'channel' out.

As for his occasional shimmy, not so sure it's the natural party trick ruckmen should be reaching for, but hey - you can't have everything.
