The umpiring was truly appalling. I’ve made myself hoarse from shouting at the maggots in disgust. The worst of the umpiring did seem to coincide with our worst patch.

I got pretty upset when Horse moved out best mid into defence (when we were being smashed in the midfield). Felt like absolute madness, but I was totally wrong.

Can anyone explain to me why it worked?

That has to be the longest quarter ever (injuries and Buddys 1000 aside) I’ve ever had to cope with.

It was a must win for us so very glad we won it. And next week is a bit of a free hit.

Reid was surprisingly good. Thought Ladhams really stood up. What is going on with Heeney?
I always scroll the match thread to the end of the game and start from post game. The takes until that time aren't worth anyone's time.

Why did Mills to the spare in defence work? This:

Thanks MattW! Huge games from those four. Ladhams seems to play better as number one than sidekick.

Our defense had become a serious problem. I think the Tigers kicked 11 goals from just 22 inside 50s in the first half. Not sure what the longer term fix is?

BTW, I always find the wailing, gnashing of teeth and flip flopping amusing. H2F excelled themselves in that regard

Who the #### cares what should have been paid after the siren . You know what else should 've been paid ? About half a dozen other blatant frees to us over the course of 4 quarters ! Umps and the VFL media vultures can cram it !

Chad is sensational , total package
Ladhams shut me up . How good was his strength ? In everything . Against 2 rucks , 1 of who is a dirty sod !
Roberts will learn and show how good he is . Had similar debut to Chad and Jmac and they are our 2 best young ones now
Missed Blakey , we were slow moving out of defence and shouldnt have needed to put our best mid down there . Lucky it worked. Mills is that good .
Hayward shut me up . Marks and tackles everywhere . Hes all skin and bones so it was tough watching him throw himself around but end of the day thats footy and thats what hes gotta do
How lucky we are to have Lance .
Wicks did not shut me up . If there wasnt someone on here who thinks even less of him as a player i would go on about it !

[QUOTE=Nico;846369]And when Chad kicked the ball it was over the line. So by him kicking it away it no affect on the game. The siren had gone. They made a good point on Fox in that Chad should have had a free first for a high fend off. Chad thinking it was a free to him.

Absolutely spot on! The whole "should it have been 50?" thing is a non-issue because it should've been a free to Warner anyway for contact made to his face!

And just love the fact that Warner was so pumped with the win that he had to let it show!

            Great comeback win!

            Go you magnificent little Cygnets!!

So first things first: great coaching move by Horse to switch Mills to the spare in defence.

The slack taken up by Parks, Warner and Rowbottom in the middle was superb. Just smashed in and won contested ball over and over again. Chad was really something tonight. And Ladhams deserves particular credit for being our best player over four quarters.

Thought Will was frantic in the first half and the two McCartins were good too. Tom gave Reiwoldt nothing. And COR had some good moments in the second half.

I’m not judging Roberts on that. It can happen and he’s young.

Oh, and then there’s that Franklin guy.

If this game was played at the MCG and Richmond had won and one of their players had kicked the ball into the crowd after the siren,
the media would be salivating about how great it was to see a young up-and-coming player celebrating like he was still in the U12s.
The umpiring was terrible and so invasive - 60 free kicks FFS - it become the "third team" on the field. People go on and on about
how difficult the game is to umpire. But is it? Really? It's not like they are trying to build a rocketship to the moon. It is just a game.

We talked about this in the car on the way home and eventually decided they both should have been given the medal.

Yes, it definitely should have been a free to Warner, against Prestia for the fend in the face. And then Prestia got the free for holding his hands in the air. If there was any sort of hold, that wasn't apparent on the replay, it was entirely inconsequential.

And it probably should be pointed out, that their final goal also came from a player being rewarded for holding their hands in the air. That is, Vlastuin took on Rampe, got hit with an excellent tackle, dropped the ball, then immediately threw his hands in the air. Should have been done for incorrect disposal, but instead, the umpire instantly upheld his dodgy appeal and paid a non-existent free against Rampe. The ball was then kicked to Gibcus, who goaled.

Although, to be fair, we did get a couple of useful soft frees. The opening goal to Reid was fortunate.

In the 2nd quarter Llyod complained above not receiving a free kick and was penalised by the ump by awarding the free kick to a Richmond player. Then what about the way Richmond players complained at the end of the game about the 50 meter penalty?. Surely the free kick had to be reversed?

The Good - we won somehow. Callum Mills is a star. Poor kicking but its the best I have seen Reid move in years. COR second half was solid. RB, Warner and Parker were great. Ladhams done a fantastic job and of course when Buddy gets angry you expect him to star.
The Bad - our backline was a shambles until Callum Mills went down there, bit of a worry going forward - over 60 free kicks in a game, almost completely ruined the game - Roberts debut was forgettable.
