I agree with this 100%. He is a forward first and foremost....and given the number of chances he's been given to shine in the centre, he doesn't appear to be a natural mid. He clunks marks, creates opportunities for team mates and generally kicks straight....we need his immense talent in the forward line.

      +1

This applies to all players as no one is perfect..... not even Chad, as great as he undeniably is.

To be honest, I think Chad showed on Friday night he's a quick learner. There were two or three times he wanted to give a gobful to the umps but did the 'awwwwwwwww' shocked-faced mouth, ran his hands through his hair - but didn't take it past that.

Of course he has things to learn - defensive stoppages are still a bit of a thing, a couple of things when about when to use his strength in taking the game on vs accept you're cornered and get away a quick handball.

        But he was excellent.
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

It is even more unfortunate for them when they have to play at Marvel Stadium and their supporters don't go. I really feel for Jack Riewolt and the hardships he has to endure.

I would have thought dissent is dissent and the free to Richmond should have been reversed.
I was more annoyed at the likes of Dusty who showed dissent at a free against him for incorrect disposal yet the umpire chose to ignore it. Lloyd indicates a high fend off and a ball up decision (that should have been HTB) was then given as a free to Richmond. And Richmond disputed decisions on a number of occasions.

I agree and was pleased Longmire effectively gave Warner that message following the match, after first praising him for a brilliant game.

And who can forget how he "put his body on the line" during the Bushfire Appeal game. So inspiring. There will be Sydney based Swans
fans who have been to Marvel more times than many Richmond "supporters" who live in Melbourne.

                  Coaches votes are in:

                  9 Lance Franklin (SYD)
                  6 Chad Warner (SYD)
                  4 Peter Ladhams (SYD)
                  3 Callum Mills (SYD)
                  3 Toby Nankervis (RICH)
                  2 Trent Cotchin (RICH)
                  2 Luke Parker (SYD)
                  1 Dylan Grimes (RICH)

Curious that one set of coaches gave Warner 5 votes and the other only 1. Then again, apart from Buddy, the coaches disagreed about all the other votes. I can't help assuming that opposite coaches gave votes to Nank and Ladhams. I think Richmond probably gave Nank his votes as I don't see how our coaches would have been the only ones not to give votes to Callum after they moved him down back to stem the tide and it worked so well.

So, if I'm playing the guessing game, I'll say our coaches went:

                  1 - Warner
                  2 - Cotchin
                  3 - Mills
                  4 - Ladhams
                  5 - Buddy

                  Which would mean Richmond gave:

                  1 - Grimes
                  2 - Parker
                  3 - Nankervis
                  4 - Buddy
                  5 - Warner

                  - - - Updated - - -

Then again, Longmire's praise of Chad might mean we gave Chad 5 votes and 4 to Buddy and none to Ladhams. Hmmm.

A shame that Stevic didn't see the high on Warner first and then we wouldn't have had this "controversy".
There was no legitimate free to Prestia in the first place.

Whateley prosecuted the defence of the 'no 50m penalty' call emphatically on 360 tonight. He broadcast the wide angle which showed Stevic was on the other side of the field (!!) and raises the arm after the siren. Warner had no prospect of hearing it and clearly didn't.

Chris Fagan and Adam Simpson agreed with the call, too.

Stevic probably couldn't see the high against Prestia from his angle. As others have said, the controlling umpire should have called it.

They showed footage from Longmire's presser as he spoke about the incident. A classic Longmire wry smile as he understated his post game chat with Warner.

Worth catching the segment, if you can.

Gotta say, watching it all back again, I really love Warner's passion. He's such a gun.

I listened to David King's segment on SEN this morning and he mentioned Warner has the fourth most score involvements in the last month (I think the period was).

On AFL360 tonight they showed behind goals vision when final siren rang. It showed Stevic (the non controlling umpire) was miles way in the centre square when he somehow from that distance he was able to see free to Prestia but miss the more obvious free to Warner.

Furthermore, it showed he had actioned free kick to Prestia AFTER the final siren had rang & Warner kicking ball into the stand. As a result, Whately emphasised there was no way a 50m penalty could be applied when it was impossible for Warner to hear Stevic's whistle from so afar and free kick had been officially awarded spilt second AFTER he'd had kicked the ball away. He had no idea what had just taken place.

It would've been much more controversial had 50m penalty been paid. Glad to hear both Fagan and Simpson endorse correct decision was made when asked. I put to all the RFC supporters who have been frothing that they were robbed that if the positions were reversed, would they still accept the 50m being awarded because it was technically there over common sense of what actually transpired?

Edit : MattW just beat me to the punch. Sorry for the duplicated post.

Rare to have the personality to match the talent . He is the total package .

We need more like his character .

Chads been involved in a lot of things this yr .

Kicked it to Buddy for his 1000th, kicked the 2 goals that got us going down in tassie against Hawks , giving it to the crowd in Perth after his goal, BOG against the drug cheats ,the running too far dissent BS, now this rubbish about the non 50 .

He is involved in all of these things because he wants to be . He makes things happen and takes the initiative to get involved . He doesnt stand around with his hands on his knees

The players and coaches love him for this , more than they do others , so fans better get on board and accept this is who Chad is . He wont change and hes not going anywhere !

Chad is just the type of player that you enjoy watching the whole game. As you say TB, he makes things happen and I’m always confident whenever he is near the ball. I hope young Corey takes after him in his enthusiasm and obvious love of the game, which is so important. As fans, we are blessed with a young emerging team and though the mountain is high, our lads are climbing towards the top. And Chad is among the very best climbers! A future champion for sure.
