The hardest ive seen Lloyd go at it, was very good.

I don’t know why you lost hope so early in the game.
We are a team that finishes games as well as any other in the competition in my opinion and can never be counted out.
Agree. We’re a team that never gives in, and this has seen us make some magnificent comebacks and wins. You never write the Swans off, never.

Lloyd was great tonight...and yes, Ollie is warming to his new task very nicely.

A few defensive efforts from Robbie were not up to scratch. Wasn’t a good look (imho) when it was the lift in defensive pressure and some awesome tackling that got us back in the game.

At the game a couple of things stood out.

We were at them the whole game. We didn't allow Oliver and Petracca any space and a lot of their stats were under pressure and ineffective. Even when an opponent was 10 metres in the clear we kept chasing.

Apart from a short patch in the first quarter our centre bounce work was at another level. When the ball hit the ground we worked hard to stop them getting clean exits and tackled bloody hard.

We were watching from the MCC members about 50 metres out, and the courage of Ollie Florent to put his body on the line to take those marks in the last quarter was outstanding. Lloyd and Tom McCartin also took great marks.

I am a known grump but Sam reid having games like this one makes me all warm and fuzzy inside . I like seeing someone overcome the odds . I didnt think he had a game like that left in him , how wrong i was.

How fantastic were the McCartins ? I have questioned Tom especially , they have both had good games and some not so . This was the first they were on song in my opinion . It was going to take some time.

Florent , how did he only have 12? I thought he was in everything . And all the usual suspects terrific , Chad , Jmac late in the game , McDonald coming along , Gulden what a goal .

I suppose we have to give credit to the opposition .. Gawn is something else . Only thing keeping us from tearing the game away from them .

Tonights game in the absence of Buddy. Makes my wonder what Logan will become in his absence, and maybe what Sam Reid might have been.

Forgot to mention Ramps in my praise of players. Just did not let Crusty the Clown get a look at it all night.

And a few have rightly mentioned Ollie. A couple of terrific marks late but that play earlier in the game when he crunched into Viney, bounced off him and took off was exhibit A in how hard we were from start to finish.

Great night for a visit to the MCG, Nico. Glad you got to witness something special.

As for the harassment factor, it was notable wasn’t it. Rowbottom had 37 (!) pressure acts alone, and he, Mills and Parks had over 80 between them. Awesome.

Frustrated Ch 7 didn't show behind goal camera shot in last quarter when McDonald was certain he had kicked his 4th Goal. Goal umpire didn't even consider reviewing the decision, so most likely the ARC would've not found definitive evidence to overturn it. Nevertheless I was curious to see how close it was for McDonald to think it was a goal, particularly at stage of the game and considering other less significant incidents are replayed by the broadcaster.

To add what is missing -
Rowbottom - 37 pressure acts, 6 clearances, 4 centre clearances, 81% disposal efficiency. When the game needed momentum swing in the second and third he was enormous. Absolutely a champion !

We won by 1 goal 6 behinds, nice margin against a team touted as possibly going undefeated this year. Rebuild going nicely :-)

What was noticeable as well was the second and third efforts by players tonight. In fact in one play in the second quarter James seemed to make a fourth effort with two tackles one after the other then another that almost stuck and finished off bouncing up and harassing the player who received the handball who turned it over by foot.
Constant in your face pressure and as I posted during the game you could see the Demon players halfway through the second quarter start to second guess where the next Swan was going to come from and they became harried and their disposal efficiency dropped noticeably.
Their confidence was definitely impacted and after this game and last weeks win by the Dockers teams will use that game plan of applying hard in your face pressure when they meet them.
Of course you can only deliver that if you have the players capable of applying it and not many team have or can.
Our boys delivered with interest last night.
