Melbourne’s forward line, and entries into the forward line, are totally dysfunctional.

One (Smith) was a stop-play situation so was classified as deliberate (as Buddy's was against Cotchin). Horne-Francis's was "in play" and thus will be classified as negligent. I suspect he'll be offered one. (MRO findings may already have been published by now but I've not read them.)

I called that incorrectly. It's been classified as intentional, and thus he's been given two weeks.

Perhaps the assessment was that it was 'after play'.

After watching the Horne-Francis incident it’s surprising he only got two weeks. He clearly went in with an intention to expel some fury and cause harm.
This might sound clichéd, but I hope the club has someone looking out for his psychological well-being. He’s obviously frustrated and unhappy playing at North.

Yes, I thought it was worth more than two, as it did seem like he went in with the intention of doing damage. I guess what saved him from a longer suspension, was that Kelly wasn't badly hurt and therefore it was graded as medium impact. But I think that it was largely luck, that Kelly wasn't knocked out cold.

On his mental health, I'm sure that North would have a well qualified sports psychologist on their staff, and if not, that would be a major reason why they aren't improving.

Why stop there? Maybe we could also hope the cafe down the road has someone on their staff looking out for the "psychological well-being"
of their new young barista. He's been having a few hissy fits lately too. I think I'm with David King on this one. The prat could just pull
                      his head in.

Spot on KTigers. North should drop him until he gets over himself. If he does end up leaving, they will get a great trade. You can't rebuild a club around a clown.

Not commenting in a disparaging way but I wonder how blaming the lack of a sports psychologist as a possible reason for poor performance would be received by supporters even as recently as five years ago?
It’s hard not to think that the more potential excuses we provide for players the more they choose to push the boundaries.
I was young once and made plenty of poor decisions but didn’t have the mental health card available to me so learnt my life lessons from the experience not from someone easing me into reality by telling me it was not my fault that I made those decisions.

Agreed. Not much intent in it, just some frustration.

We Swans should never forget that Carlton was the arrogant, entitled club that waited for us to die in the 90s so they could move into the Sydney market! Vultures!
                              Hehe.

For me, somewhat ironically, it was a Friday night game vs Carlton at the SCG in 1995. No one gave us a chance, but ~24,000 turned up to watch us win by 70 points. Plugger kicked a bagful and Mickey O, at 18, kicked 4.

                              Classic.

Unfortunately, Carlton didn’t lose another game that year.
