I can understand you don't like being called out. No one does.

My distaste re VW (and as a former owner of a VW Lemon so I may be biased) relates to them cheating emissions tests a few years ago and my recollection is they fought toon and nail against taking responsibility for their DSG transmission failures.

No point in continuing exchange. Both on different wavelengths.

The silver lining of VM diesel-gate is that the multi-billion dollar fines in the US was used to fund the electrifiy america DC fast charger network for electric cars. Pity Australia didnt fine them too.

Good news is that Netball Australia has found another $15m sponsor.

"Netball Australia has signed a $15 million sponsorship deal with Visit Victoria just over a week after Hancock Prospecting pulled its contract with the sport."

So they dont have to sell their soul to make a quid. Win for everyone, except the Gina cheerleaders.

I hope other sport exec's take note. Be a bit more selective on who you associate with.

You are kidding right - government sponsorship from Dan Andrews government is not corporate sponsorship - its hardly a lesson for anyone except that the most left leaning government entity in Australia is doing exactly what left leaning governments always do and would love to see - government control of everything.

You do understand that Visit Victoria would have a budget and that this would be included in that? Netball is widely followed and it’s likely the Vic government would see this as an investment in future tourism.
It’s casting a very wide bow to accuse it of wanting to control everything. Indeed, I’m somewhat disappointed that NSW tourism authorities didn’t support the Diamonds instead.

Brilliant news, and was always going to happen.

So sponsorship IS control then? So Gina WAS trying to control the netballers?

Smart politics by Andrews as well. Will go down well in seats like Richmond where it is close between Labor and the Greens.

I'd rather see a democratically elected Government control everything than Gina R.

It is an absolute disgrace when a government of any persuasion can wilfully give away taxpayers money. Victoria currently has a projected $9.7 billion debt for the current year, which equates to $1.45 million for each man, woman and child living in the state. You simply cannot call this responsible management.

Strawman argument - that wasnt my point. Gina reinhart never purported to control anything but if you would like to live in a country where the government controls everything , there are some fine countries around the world where you can go . Its always been an overwhelming success.

Even here in Australia , governments have proven in the past that they are just so efficient in spending your money .

Pretty sure your arithmetic is significantly off (i.e. multiple orders of magnitude) here.

If you believe Gina Rinehart's intention was not about controlling anything through her sponsorship money, why do you make the automatic assumption that that is the Victorian government's intention?
