Clarkson had a very talented list when he won his flags. No way he finds such a list again. No guarantee he is successful if he has another crack. All this media about him being a genius is way over the top.

Port Adelaide is another possible Clarko destination with some in the media speculating Hinkley could then go to GWS.

I think to win 4 flags in 8 years as Hawthorn did you have to have a major "buy-in" from the playing group (that includes players who
say no to a bigger pay cheque at another club), a number of very good real on-field leaders (see Paul Roos definition), a very good list
and bit of luck with injuries come September. And you need a coach that gets into the heads of the players so that you have a
group of players that believe regardless of the scoreline at a point in the game, they still believe they can win.
All of these things are connected of course.
Anyway, it's very hard to do. But 4 out of 8 is not just a happy accident. Clarko was definitely part of that. Sure, he's a bit of a tool
and hard to like but is that important?

Been firmly put to bed that Kane Cornes originated rumour. Port Adelaide and Hinkley have both said he will be at Port next season.

As the music stops, the only chair without a bum is GWS. Wins against 18th, 16th and 15th and some ordinary losses are not the form to give McVeigh the gig so it has to be someone else.

A Clarkson coached GWS would add a bit more spice to the local derby.

The problem with the supposed allure of GWS for the quality of their list, is it’s a self-degrading list.

There’s reporting they risk being up to $1m over the cap next year without shedding some major talent. Kelly, Whitfield and Cogniglio are all on either side of $1m for years to come, and that’s before you get to whatever the likes of Greene or Hopper are on.

They’re expected to lose another first round pick in Bruhn, who’ll go home at the end of the year, having lost Caldwell and Hateley the last couple of years. You then take a Taranto out and what happens: they get a first round pick that then walks out in two years.

I’m sorry, but the quality of their list is a mirage. They are destined to wallow in mediocrity.

Yes, GWS have probably been hurt by COLA being taken away more than us. Their top seven or eight players are all probably
on $100K to $250K more than they'd be on at Melbourne club but that's what it took to keep them. It's not just the "go home"
factor they have to pay for, it does cost more to live and buy homes in Sydney. COLA does actually stand for cost-of-living-allowance.

Apparently so: North Melbourne Kangaroos coach David Noble to step down (afl.com.au).

Fourteen losses in a row and only 5 wins in the last two seasons. Hard for any coach to survive that.

Why would anyone atm put their hand up to coach North? Chances are you'd be out the door in a couple of seasons.

Does anyone think that Clarkson will coach North?

With 2 vacant coaching positions for Clarko to chose from, my guess is Don Pyke's name will now get increasingly mentioned. Does Ross Lyon want to coach again? I think both North and GWS will appoint an experienced senior coach and not a newbie.

They could try and move North to Tassie and make Clarko coach.

Hey Mark, it appears that North doesn’t want to be relocated and that Tasmania want their own team so I don’t think that will occur.
