    Possibly not a bad idea.

McDonald is not that pack mark player. He is a lead and mark player, like Buddy. If you replace Amartey like for like would be McLean.

I would keep Amartey in as last week was not the day for big guys taking huge pack marks. Too wet. If Hickey is injured then play Amartey and Reid in the ruck. Could even bring in Sinkas as a last resort.

McInerney may need a rest. He looks a bit beaten up. I wonder if he has Samson effect.

Other than that I think we are pretty good to go.

I would play Fox on Greene. He can match him for leap, can outpace him and is good at running off an opponent. That means Greene will have to defend, something he doesn't really like doing.

Playing Bud forther up the ground has been beneficial. If Taylor plays on him and Bud spends greater time upfield this will release territory and get Taylor out of the equation. This will mean they have to play Haines back to combat this.

I think you're underselling the kid. I'm pretty certain others will have already shown signs of him being a park mark player, as well as a lead and mark player.

I had a similar idea: not so much play him as a ruck but play him in place of Hickey if Hickey is not right to go.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

he is not the strong, huge pack mark player like either of the other two. He is more like Reid when he pack marks, generally drifts across or into the pack. The Leo effect. The others take marks in the middle of a huge pack.

My point is you’ll get at least half a dozen marks of some description from Logan and he’s an outstanding field kick whereas Amartey might give you two pack marks at best and not much else. He can compete in the ruck but so can others and surely you don’t pick a bloke because you’re planning for another bloke to break down .

Yes. Has that smell about it - but if they turn up for this game it is a sad indictment of where they are as a team (& club). They have turned up their heels way too easily at times this year and with the leg-ups they’ve had and the talent onboard it’s an embarrassment.

Definitely capable of what will be called “an upset”. Let’s hope we crush the life out of em from the get-go.

It's interesting that our injuries have improved and Richmond's have gotten worse since we lured Damien Raper across. Does he deserve some credit? I find it impossible to gauge (but still interesting to speculate).
Better not jinx that one. Like that road trip when you say “traffic’s pretty good today” too early in the journey.

Kelly and Whitfield are just a nice reminder that they wasted a million a year on slightly above average players and their salary cap is going to break them for the next decade.

Probably close if not their strongest side. Ours unchanged is the right move as we just couldn’t fit Joey in. This will be a big test for us but expect to win by a small margin. Hope Buddy has a big game!

We might be able to see the value of continuity vs. discontinuity in side selection in this game. No doubt, GWS have a strong side on paper, but how will they gel on the ground? There are many other factors at play here, especially regarding GWS, that are difficult to measure. One team has nothing to lose and the other has everything to win. Who gets the advantage?

I will be surprised if Joey is not the sub, which always seemed in the cards.
