We lost the free kick count 15 to 20 in a game where we won most stats. I don't like it.

I thought the sentence was over the top but found out later the guy was concussed which probably explains the non-appeal.

I thought this was a key quote from the Roar article by Tim Miller:

I’d make the case, though, that Longmire ought to be wary about when he puts Mills back – in recent times, it’s become a sign that his team have shut up shop. It worked superbly as a rebounding tool earlier in the year against Richmond, with Mills looking to punch the ball into space and kickstart attacking chains, but now it’s a case of him going for intercept marks and slowing things down.

It also weakened them noticeably in midfield, and allowed the Pies to begin to dominate territory. And with the Pies moving the ball just as fast as the Swans late, once they took control of the footy, the margin began to get whittled down.

        ****

That premature shutting up shop (along with the loss of Reid) was key to the shift in momentum and the game becoming so (needlessly) tense and close.

I wonder whether that's a new record for the shortest ruckman of all time (outside of the U10's) ?

Whatever you do though, don't tell Ludwig (or his cousin Luwig) - they'll see it as proof positive that Ruckmen are superfluous in the modern game.

A good point raised there. There have been times in the past when they have moved Heeney and/or Reid back to shore up the defence. Perhaps we could consider using Heeney rather than Mills there in the future, as losing Mills from the midfield is certainly reduces our potency there?

Yet, all the press about the umpiring concerns Papley's last goal which, according to some commentators, came about because of an umpiring mistake that "cost Collingwood the game."

How about the Juzzy likely goal we were denied when he was called for being on a non Victorian team when he sharked a mark in the forward left pocket? Or the questionable Mihocek mark that late in the fourth quarter?

They don't count - they favoured Collingwood!

And, yes, I thought the Mihocek mark was soft, too.

It's a bit hard to argue "we wuz robbed" when you win the free kick count by 5!

                      What a remarkable game.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Was very funny. I’ve posted on here before that Errol has such a high footy IQ that he could play fullback on Ben King and work out a way to get it done. But being a ruckman might be a little beyond him.

Is it just me, or does Cameron seem a bit too disappointed by that rushed behind?

Not really considering he always seems like that.

That mark was questionable at best. I wouldn’t say he had control over it for more than a second.
