John Noble seems out of favour at Collingwooooooood. He is the running half back type that we like. Is it worth asking the question about him?

      Good player Noble

My sense we are not looking for outside mids / wing given our contested footy challenges but also because we are good for outside run players

Cold hard light of day with the injuries we had we done well to recover and make finals. To me we finished pretty much we’re our list is at the moment

Looks like Grundy will play for us next year and that might help with our clearance issues . But I’ll temper my expectations as he simply is not the ruckman he was a few years ago .
If finals is anything to go by clearances and stoppage clearances are a must . We need help in this area as our midfield simply doesn’t cut it . Sheldrick may be the future but he simply doesn’t have the tank as yet to sustain it for considerable amounts of game time . We need ready made assistance in this area.
I think we need another good quality crumber when the ball hits the ground . Konstanty might turn out to be this player in time but hopefully with Paps playing more midfield time next year we can’t really solely on wicks who is more a defensive forward.
Another key defender is needed but I hope we don’t sell the farm to get McKay . Hardly plays a full season . The uptick could be in the right environment he could become elite . But the alleged price tag you would want a more consistent key defender.
Going to be an interesting off season that’s for sure

He is a half back flanker. Always has been.

I beg to disagree on Sheldrick; he showed that he does have the tank. Hayward is one you didn't mention in your post. After 7 seasons he surely doesn't have the tank. He is gone by half time and labours to keep up with opponents after then. We need players in the forward line who can run up and back and keep up sustained pressure. Opponents take it out of our forward line far too easily.

              Yep
Sorry I meant on an SCG he pretty much is on that outside wing a lot of the game and not area area of need right now.

I rate him. Think he is a good player though.

Unless we see him more of a Lloyd replacement who will be turning 31yrs of age in 2024 but is signed on to 2025.

But as all the great recruiters say if they are good u can move them to play other roles.

If John Noble does not dislodge our back 7 rotation where would he play?

He could play Wicks role possibly?

I just think we need to allocate the $ to a few other areas as priority for our contested footy to lift.

                  James Jordon | AFL

It was reported mid year we and two other clubs were keen on James Jordon

Sounds like he is leaving Melb

URFA I believe due to being delisted and listed again a few years back

Good kick at goal and can play HBF, Inside mid etc but also kicks quite well both legs

I suspect a lot rides on McKay and Brodie right now and getting these deals right it at all

Interesting Re our Link with Jordon and Harmes from Melbourne

If we let Stephen’s and Clarke go they would be good replacements on similar $

But both inbound would be help our contested depth and also cleaner use of the footy. They come from competing week in week out at training against 3 of the best mids at contested that start for Melbourne FC

Plus they would already have a connection and understanding of each others game

Harmes has a year left and sounds like Melbourne need a $ solution so minimal trade currency

                        Jordon URFA

Shows how deep Melbournes depth was to keep these guys out of the team vs us bringing in say Roberts this season…….chalk and cheese for the next man up

I’m pretty sure Sheldrick’s game time was actually quite low . Won’t argue about Hayward one frustrating player for me . Went backwards this year

                            Some random links from SEN:

Ben McKay: Sydney still interested, as is Essendon and Hawthorn.

Every player linked to trade or free agency discussions (updated). Stephens and Melican the only Sydney players on the list.

Not sure Jordan is much of an upgrade on Roberts, has a few more preseasons under his belt and more exposed form, but wouldn’t think he’s much of an upgrade

Agree. Not necessarily an upgrade especially if Roberts has a big pre season. Looks a natural footballer. Hard as well.
