It's "Gather Round"....so they thought it would be a good idea to gather round in Australia's most boring city.

What I have heard is that NSW was considered also for the all in one state round, but there was a concern that being a non AFL state, there would have been smaller crowds on average for the matches and then the whole initiative is a bit meh in its launch year and then doesn't get support for a second and third year.

So SA was chosen for its bigger crowds in the inaugural year (given they are more an AFL state than NSW). However, this also reduces the 'grow the game' narrative they are pushing, in that SA already has strong grass roots and community football.

      Source: general chatter on Reddit

In my view, they really should have had it in NSW or Qld where they are competing for fans/players from the NRL to grow the game and fanbase.

It is a bit of a missed opportunity really. and a bit nauseating with the commentators asking every player "are you excited to go to SA" etc, as if any player is going to speak their mind and say, nah, I would rather play at the MCG/Marvel/Gabba/home next week...

If gould cant get a game this week, my question is why have we kept him one out list. Would have to be a major list management fail, unless injured.

Gould/Francis/Rampe are up against it this as Lynch’s one match suspension was reversed on appeal.

          Fox/Campbell on Bolton too.

Real danger game for us and could be stressful to watch on TV.

Lynch has a busted foot and is out for many weeks.

We won't win, regardless if lynch plays... until we have a coach who will pick on form and make the hard calls we are doomed.

Forecast changed again - Sunny morning. High chance of showers, most likely in the evening

Fox will come into the 22, means we need another two plus a sub. Debuts coming

Steady on mate- no need to be so negative before the game! It’s ok to criticise Horse but who in the ressies has been banging the door down? We have some talented youngsters but their form is up and down.
Sheldrick, Gould and Francis should come in, but before our injuries this week you wouldn’t pick them in an otherwise settled team. Maybe HHK and young Corey will get an opportunity soon.

Regarding Sammy: let’s not be too harsh on him as he has been a great servant for us and can’t help that he’s injury prone. Hopefully he will stay fit for the business end of the season and that will be the time when he’s most needed. Love Sammy as he always gives his all, and his kicking for goal even improved a bit last year!????

Well written post. Sammy has real talent when his body is right. HKK has always shown promise and young Corey seem to have taken his game to a new Level this year.

Excellent, well-argued post. Sam Reid has been a stalwart for the club, in a career cruelled by injury. Last year he didn’t come into the team until mid-season, but was a major contributor to our success.

We need brothers in our team selection - Another Warner to debut. No mention of Gould .....??

                            - Update -

There were posts on Twitter that both Gould Francis could not complete training this week and have been ruled out.

I suspect this means one of the following is out: Cunningham, McInerney or Stephens (least likely)?.

Think Campbell is safe as the other three have had more games where there impact has been questioned.

                              ——-
Update: No Gould or Francis either… who is going to play with Rampe as a tall? Almartey down back and McLean forward?.

Very unfortunate if that's the case, and a makeshift backline coming up. Perhaps Will Edwards might get a game.

Good on Corey Warner. He played well when I saw the reserves play a couple of weeks back.
