I'm all in favour of the HH pursuit - and that offer sounds suitable, Ludwig.

I'm also still in favour of chasing Jack Lukosius. Some suggestions he might be gettable even though he re-signed at Gold Coast not long ago.

I agree we should go hard at Himmelberg and Ludwig's proposed initial offer sounds good.

I really like Lukosius, but also like the idea of him playing successfully with the Gold Coast. (Also, I'm not sure our old mate Dew is long for his job up there.)

It's just been announced that Gather Round will be in SA for the next three years. Fixture adjustments will need to be made so the two SA teams don't get an extra home game every year.

What do you propose, stevo?

Gee I'd love him at the Swans. Would be a perfect fit - strong hands, good kick, can play at either end of the ground. Right age profile to slot in perfectly.

But I don't think that's realistic, given separate games involving Adelaide teams guarantees two sell-outs.

I liked this comment so did a bit of research.

Re grandstands, from brief internet search I found that the Lakeside Stadium was built in 1926 designed by Clegg & Morrow. The Sir Edwin T. Smith Pavilion at Norwood Oval was built in 1929 and designed by Mr. H. F. R. Culley.

So the two grandstands are of the same era. Culley seems to have designed various other Norwood public structures, while Clegg & Morrow seem to have been a prestigious Ballarat architecture practice. Possibly Culley’s design influenced by Clegg & Morrow?

There is a good crowd again at Norwood for GWS v Hawthorn match, and quite likely bigger than if the same match were played at Giants home ground at Olympic Park.

Ps: Looking at internet photos of the two stadiums they ARE very similar in design.

I did a bit more research - the Adelaide house in which I lived in my childhood was built of red brick, with a gabled roof line with wooden slat inserts. That is, similar basic design as the two grandstands (Lakeside South Melbourne and Norwood).

The house was built in 1924, Lakeside 1926 and Norwood 1929. So it might have been the style of that era rather than any connection between the architects of the two stadiums.

Yes it would be nostalgic for the Swans to play at Norwood in the red V. But it would also mean we had been deemed to be a club that would not attract a big crowd in Adelaide. That would be sad ......

Since our game attracted a crowd of 42,000+, I don’t think we’ll be deemed a club that won’t draw a big crowd. There was plenty of red and white in the crowd on Friday night.
Agree the Norwood ground is a beauty, and the stand is very reminiscent of Lakeside Oval.

Good observation Meg. Wonder if there are any other similar designed stands from that era in existence?

I understand the crowd drawing reasoning against us playing at the Norwood Oval. The footy romantic in me would still love to see this happen just as a one off. Next year's Gather Round would be so apt to do so, to incorporate with our club celebrating it's "official^ 150th anniversary.

I thought it was the correct decision based on the examples in the prior rounds. I thought Taylor Adams was unlucky as there were other players involved in the incident.

Both Adelaide and port played normal home games, so it's not a problem.

What it hurts is the non Vic teams who had to play one of their few home games away.

It was an additional round, though, so no team relinquished a home game. Port and Adelaide each have one extra home game this season, while 14 of the 18 clubs played a "neutral" game as their extra and two got to play a real away game (ie against a team with a home ground advantage).
