Excellent win, we looked bloody exciting.

Shame about Joel, really liked how the forward line was looking with him in it.

    Blakely sensational.

So good to see Will get a game. Perhaps not under the circumstances he might have liked, but I thought he went well.

From a moon boot last week, well done. His 2 on 1 spoil that was a certain goal, to steamrolling a player or two. He’s an AFL player now and hopefully kicks on.

Great to win, great to silence the Richmond supporters (in the commentary box). With our injuries it really felt like a free hit and the team could play with a daring nothing to lose attitude.

For parts of the game we weren’t great and Richmond were mostly awful, other than repeated quick breaks from defence to score. But in the end 200 points were scored and we got over 120 of them. Can’t have been bad. I’m looking forward to watching again without my family complaining about every mistake, non call etc.

Looking at our list we have a fair few newer players yet to debut or having played only a game or so. We need 3 or 4 to make it and was encouraging to see Warner Jr and Gould and Roberts all play a part.

Amazing win. Great first half by Blakey and great second half by Papley. What a player Papley is ! There was 83 picks before he was drafted ,70 in the regular draft and 13 in the Rookie draft. He was pick 14 in the rookie draft. Even back there was a rumour that the Swans decided to draft him or give him a chance because his uncle Max Papley was a very good player in the 1960's for South Melbourne.

Can not get my head around this....thought we were smashed in the middle, they walzted 4 deep out of stoppages all night

Parker was Terrible for him, J Mac is captain fumbles and kicks shorter than Lloyd
Given the players that are getting games, Sheldrick should walk in next week.......has to be our best option by a mile in that Fringe group of 4 or 5

So 15 players under 24 according to our coach, and we beat Richmond with Dusty Martin, Bolton and Reiwoldt in their team- That's pretty impressive.

I thought we played like a team of inexperienced players, a lot of fumbling and quite a few terrible mistakes, but somehow we managed to put things together at the right time and get through. If we can keep this group together, I think we're looking at a few good years. Swans coaching staff must be excited at the prospect.

I think the moment that stood out for me was Gulden comforting Armartey. That was telling. There's a good spirit in this team, and lots of talent.

We did much much better at stoppages in the last quarter. Richmond got the better of the centre clearances in the 3rd quarter, hence their 8 goals. The game seemed to ebb and flow with the side that won the stoppages. One thing for sure is Papley should go to every centre bounce. He made a huge difference when he was in there.

Mills as the 7th defender gave us a lot of stability in defence.

Max Papley was a star in the 60's. He was brilliant when on his game. He found out later in life that he had a heart issue that explained his inconsistency. He said there were times when he could hardly train because of a lack of energy. Skilton won 3 Brownlows but said Max was a better footballer than himself. High praise.

In fact I think Bob Skilton said Max Papley was the most talented footballer he ever saw. Compliments don't come much bigger than that.

I wore Max Papley's number 11 on my south jumper when I was a kid. He crossed over to by vfa club Williamstown as captain/coach without a clearance as there was a feud between vfa and vfl at the time. Only left south brvause thry wouldn't let him play cricket in summe. Originally from Moorabbin..Freak player.

And Tom Papley’s maternal grandfather was Jeff Bray, an outstanding player for West Adelaide in the SANFL. Bray also played for South Melbourne from 1964 to 1966, during which time he and Max Papley became close friends.

Bray returned to West Adelaide to finish his career so I assume Tom’s mother spent much of her youth in Adelaide. Tom mentioned in his post-game interview that he would be spending today with SA family on a trip to the Barossa Valley.

We seem to get over the back of their defence alot.
I wonder if Buddy planting himself deep and not getting up the ground doesn't allow us to do that with him in the team.
