Horse and Co came up with some brilliant moves, the win started with the coaches pre game planning - kudosComment

Hot potato,
I agree, an excellent coaching performance. What a difference the return of 3 experienced players made. We had structure on the backline for the first time since the Port Adelaide game, and what a difference it made, allowing our play makers in defence to play rebounding football.Comment

Not two extra players down back, but a defender with experience and a feisty forward, with an excellent ruckman giving our midfield a chance. Made a huge difference.

Pretty much the same on SEN Crunchtime, they went on and on about Carlton and their woes and barely mentioned the Swans effort. It shows that they cater for the Victorian centric audience.Comment

Sportsday
There was an interview yesterday (Wednesday 19 July) with Longmire that's worth a listen. You'll have to scroll down the segment list to find it. I've learnt from experience that links to this site don't take you directly to a segment.
He talks about what he talks a little about list management, about the Sydney market. Oh, and about Dane.Comment

Thanks Liz. I happen to be listening to that interview live & is worth a listen, even though Horse played his cards close to his chest and not be drawn into deeply as Healy & Cornes were tempting him to do. Learnt Horse is in favour of playing best of 3 Grand Finals and a Wild Card round.Comment

John Longmire on Sydney Swans' moves, captaincy call and Logan McDonald
There's nothing particularly new or surprising in this piece, but it's worth a read. It gives some insight into what makes John tick, and what keeps him turning up enthusiastically every day after more than twenty years at the club.Comment

Thanks Liz, good insights on Horse as you had described.
Heard some media speculation recently that this might be his last contract. But reading how heavily invested & evovled with the club he has been over a long period, combined with our list not yet peaking & hungry for more success, don't think he'll finish up at end of 2025. Particularly if we track well as expected in the next 2 seasons. Horse is only 53yo for a senior coach.Comment
