Too funny! It is genuinely good for morale for the players to have a win. Also a positive is a debutant who holds promise.Comment

North had all the momentum in the last quarter, were 16 points up on their home ground, yet the Swans got back in it, and managed to win. Showed a fair bit of fighting spirit, despite our obvious lack of confidence. That’s something else to take out of it.
Also keeps my tips at 100% this weekend.

It's a win and it's a win against a club with grubby supporters! Celebrate!Comment

Not specifcally the interchange cap but yes they brought in the penalty for infringing on changeoversCaptain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sectorComment

Oh dear. Well, that’s the one way to win.
But I’m happy for them. They’ve been, literally and figuratively, bashed up the past month, so it must feel good to run out the game and get the win. I hope they enjoy it.
Parker enormous. Gulden and Chad excellent. A few good moments of class from Heeney later in the game. And the way Bud pushed up the ground, as well as stuck some tackles, that last quarter was fantastic. He wanted a win.
And McAndrew is a total keeper. There was a stretch early in the first quarter where they had four or five ball ups in the North forward 50 and you could see Goldstein trying to work him over to get a tap into space and McAndrew held him off.
He’s got great reach, and you can see he’ll be very awkward for opposing as he gets stronger. He threw a few taps with his right hand over his left shoulder that didn’t quite land, but as he and the players at his feet learn to read each other, he will make a real impact.
He’s got work to do to get into the play around the ground, but his ruck instincts and traits are excellent, he’s unafraid of contact and will get stronger, he’s a good tackler, and he seems a fast learner. We look to have a good one.
And it really did seem that Parker, Warner and Gulden were very sick of losing, and they were doing everything possible to avoid that.
Don't know if a three point win over North fills me with a huge amount of confidence, but at least our season still has a pulse.Comment

Our inexperienced players did not cause this. It was our experienced blokes who did. I thought Francis, Gould, Stretch, even Sheldrick when he came on were good. Where we were losing it was not with them it was with the coach.
Horse has been beaten constantly by Clarkson for a reason. Clarkson gets his players to put in 5 minutes of super effort and Horse reacts the same way every time. Put a man back. That leaves us short at the fallof the ball. Our best attribute as a team is one on one footy but Horse seems unable to realise this. He is too quick to take the bait and we almost always lose.
He is too slow to react when something is not working. Ratten was not coaching today. That was a coaching lesson from Clarkson. Horse always falls for Clarkson's burst ploy. The thing he seems to forget that with man on man that is not sustainable. But if we stick one back then they have advantage at stoppages with the extra man so players tire less and our mids tire faster playing an extra player. This is called the sicker move and instead of reacting I'd like to see Horse maintain the formation.
Unfortunately Horse is predictable and almost lost us the match through his stupid defensive tavtice. It wasn't the young players who almost lost us the match, it was the old coach. I do not think he can take us forward. He is too set in his ways and herefuses to change. There was a hot discussion he was having with, I presume it was Cox, at one stage and then the player went back.
We are limping into the bye. Lose today and we really would have been a laughing stock. We might still be as the opinion will be we only won on a technicality. I think we would have kicked a goal anyway. But to nearly get beaten by one of the three laughing stocks of the AFL is embarrassing. No it is not about personal, they had as many out as we did. It is about game plan and execution. The players totally lack confidence and therefore belief. The coaches message is no longer getting through. Even with all players back it might not improve much. Horse has, by his actions and words in pressers, told the players he does not trust them!

Sigh! I don't know- I don't like to win like this. I think we have effort, I think we have the personnel when everybody is fit. I'm not sure about the coaching and fitness staff. So hard to tell when we have so many injuries. Anyway- we won...on to next week.Comment

Listening to the radio at the game I could hear the umpires having a discussion and say free kick to Sydney. Then I heard interchange infringement but didn't realise it was because North exceeded their limit. It is really hard for the interchange steward to keep up with all the changes as they happen so frequently, (at one stage in the last quarter Parker came off and then on again in less than 30 seconds), but surely you realise once you're close to the limit.
I don't know how I feel winning like that, but after all the times we have been screwed by the umpires, I'm fine with it ????.Comment

Goldstein is one of the best rucks in the comp, of course he gave his on ballers every advantage against our inexperienced duo.
Thought McAndrew showed a lot of promise too.

Players not being up to AFL fitness level
Him falling for Clarko's trick yet again. He @@@@s himself every time. The RAT did just as Clarko would have done got the players primed for a 5 minute burst that resulted in goals. Of course, Horse does what Horse always does he puts a player back. That leaves them one up at stoppages which is what they wanted.
