Re “real supporters”, one of us (an active poster) out of 58 tipped the lowly North to beat our Swannies in the RWO tipping completion
So sad…. that they were almost right!
Next week, I can see a lot of us tipping the Blues even with their recent form.Comment

Hindsight drafting always picks the right players LOL
Haven't looked at the stats but just watching the game I reckon we've lost most of the key ones but came away with a W, the win flattered us
Had a read of the Norf BF Autopsy thread, some seriously disturbed foaming at the mouth mental cases among their supporter base - and we wonder why the mindless booing doesn't stop? Have a read of that BF thread.
You are right about the North BF thread - holy crap, there is some serious baggage there. In baseball, they talk about the Curse of the Bambino - reckon North suffer from the Curse of Goodesy. My blood still boils to think of many of those arseholes booing one of the game's greats off the field in his final moments.Comment

To be fair to McAndrew, it was his first game against a very experienced ruckman in Goldstein, compounded with the loss of Ladhams. I thought that it was a good game by him.Comment

Go look at the Port vs Melb Stats
Port had half the Hitouts and won the clearances against 2 of the best 5 rucks in the comp.Comment

You have acknowledged our three concussions and Rampe’s neck are not fitness issues.
We now have two nasty ankle injuries. Both caused by horrible twists on landing in marking/rucking contests. Both (I think) as a result of landing on an opposition player’s foot. Nothing to do with fitness.
Plus Roberts (knee) and Sheather (foot soreness) not obviously linked to fitness (though possibly).
So are you only referring to Reid (long injury history) Amartey (ditto) and Mills?
I agree our fitness seems down this season given our frequent last quarter collapses. And it appears as if a couple of players are playing with niggles. But our significant injury list of players on the sidelines seems to be mainly plain bad luck.

Been saying this for weeks. He got a knock in the ribs in about his second or third match back. Hasn't been the same since. Same with Heens. But I think he is playing himself into fitness.

I agree to a certain extent. I think we all were prepared for our draft Gurus to pick some key position players last draft and I don't know anyone that wasn't disappointed we didn't. It has come back to bite us on the bum

We won on a technicality. We were not the best side on form this week. The coaching was very ordinary.? How many times can this bloke take rope a dope? I like Horse. But times change. Sometimes you just need to move on.
By the way I am not hot on our draft last year. I was hoping for 1 or 2 talls. There were some very good talls. Unlike the draft before.
We will be bottom 3 or 4. Don't deserve any more. If we don't get some players back very soon.
The only two plusses for me were Stretch and Buddy. M?c was OK too. Horse is getting Rowbottom to play defensive mid. I liked it when he was a ball terrier. Sometimes you can just be far too defensive.

Ratten just did what Clarkson told him to do. He put players in certain positions in the centre square and they got 4 quick goals. We were allay sea. Anyone remember 2014 GF. In a matter of 10 minutes we were toast. Clarkson was feeling us out for the first 10 and then switched players in the centre and changed centre square positioning. Suddenly they had 5 goals. It was devastating. North did a similar thing to us and Horse immediately went defensive. He did in 2014 too and got massacred.

If we kick straight in the first part of the game where we completely dominated, then we are 30 points up and probably out of reach. I will say though that you do have very good imagination.Comment

Others on here with far better knowledge and understanding than myself have pointed that out about Rowbottom. Such a one dimensional role - and most definitely not the role that he has played his best footy in."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Watching the last two minutes again, I can say Hugh Greenwood was very lucky he didn’t have a HTB paid against him, leading to the stoppage before the interchange breach. Dragged the ball in, lay on it and made no attempt whatsoever to get it out.

The wrap by Nathan Buckley says it all. Where are we? Injuries aside, we were smashed in the mids -20, less inside 50's, smashed in the HO, smashed in centre clearances (we only got 8 that is piss poor), beaten in tackles so they had more pressure on the player with ball, they had 10% more time in possession.
We were beaten in most pressure areas except contested possession, which we won by 5 which is neither here or there it is so close.
As to blaming inaccuracy for nearly losing. Will we continue to do that if we keep losing? Last year if we were inaccurate we would have so many shots it straightened up. We still may have scored as many points as goals but we kicked a winning score. OK we had a full contention of players. But even thrn we are incapable of kicking a difinitivewinning score. There seems to be a lack of desire or confidence in the group.
I am going to say this again. Losing becomes a habit. Psychologically, even a win like this is a loss because of the way we won. We are sitting right where we deserve to be. Will much improve with players coming back? Time will tell. Amartey will straighten us up a bit. But Buddy was on yesterday and we only managed 23 scoring shots.
14.9. One person says our inaccuracy hurt us early. OK. But to what do you put the rest of the match down to, especially the last quarter? Certainly not inaccuracy as we kicked 14.9. We have to stop finding excuses. Excuses are the purvey of weak minds. Find solutions not excuses. We are down on personnel find a way of using the personnel we have to scratch out a win. We play Blues next week. If thry flog is then we really are in a mess. The Blues are the most overrated team in the AFL. They have been extremely poor. Thry have even less room for excuse making than us. But we need to find a way. We need our players, like the lion in The Wizard of Oz, to find a heart. To dig deep. The coaches need to find the best way to go about winning with the personnel on hand. No more excuses Horse, solutions please.
