And what did we do to counter their better play, drop Mills from a midfield that was getting smashed to defence. How did that work out? Lets look at the scoreboard shall we.

Even with the injuries we have enough talent for the Top 8 given the other teams (except the top 3 are pretty poor).

How many players are better this year?

McCartin only got moved forward because we were too tall down back - prefer him to be sent forward then useless Francis. Remember it was his first game back in about 2 months as well. Don't think said decision had anything really to do with the idea of his form.

Oh and while the Papley call may have been correct, any chance the umpires could pay that every time it happens - both when it is on the ground and when passing through hands. Must have happened 10,000 times this year for about 4 free kicks. The inconsistency of the umpires is utterly killing the game.

Disappointing loss especially after the way we started. Richmond were better for the last 2 1/2quarters and should have won by more. We had our chances at the end but couldn't score.

As has been mentioned, the choice of Francis for sub was strange, especially with the forecast of rain.

The Lloyd concussion cost us at the time because we were one man short in defence and they scored a goal while he was still lying on the ground. I hope Nankervis is appropriately punished.

You can’t blame Horse for players’ mistakes.

Sorry guys- we didn’t deserve to win this game.
The Ramps kick was hard to watch. But most of the second half was torture. They were harder and cleaner when it came to the pinch, & just somehow managed to keep it moving their way.

Sad to end this way, but we looked spent and just made too many poor decisions and skill errors.

I hope you’re right as I didn’t see much defence from him when he was back. It also proves how folly it was to have Francis as the sub. I love Horse and support 95% of his decisions but this was a mistake. I’ve said it many times this season that talls should not be subs and it has bitten us badly.

                Dumb selection and dumb tactics.

Dumb selection because there are only 3 large defenders max in a team, and there only 4 other talls, so the odds are 2 to 1 that you will need to sub a smaller player.Add to that the fact that Francis really only plays back and the odds are 7 to 1 that he won't be able to directly replace an injured player like for like. Also, because of the forecast, which was for rain, which is not suitable for Francis.

Dumb tactics because we didn't adjust to the wet.Really simple stuff like tap ons to advantage and taking a more direct route to goal were missing.

A few on seem energised by a loss and are very quiet ehen we play well. Each to their own I guess.

Our worst half of football for the year? Must be close. Not sure what the record for broken tackles is but we must have given it a fair old shake.

Those talking up Francis before the game must be feeling sick - his dropped marks and missed tackles must have cost us 6 in the end. Pretty much all of our leaders just went missing and the ball use was beyond pathetic. Pretty clear they're not much interested in playing finals footy this year.

Yep! They played their game style to perfection after half time, and we just couldn't go with them! We could not adjust once it started raining, which is pretty disappointing.

                        Ramps and Bud

We literally drew a game last week, Ramps has to put that as close to goal as possible so at worst it gets knocked thru.
All week we saw footage of Bud in the bix shaking his head at poor kicking and he doesnt score, 1 pt down from 35 out. Go back, drop punt 60m, somewhere in between those 4 white posts, ideally the middle 2 but any will do.

Merdo, you have a point re Mills, but that’s about it. Can’t you accept we were outplayed tonight in the second half? Richmond weren’t a poor side tonight and were more desperate especially in the second half. Sure, there were some bad decisions by the umps but we just didn’t play well in the second half. Maybe we are just not as good as we think we are.

I agree that knowing what to expect weather wise, I would have played Corey instead of Francis, but who knew that Lloyd would need to go off instead of a tall. Francis was reasonable- better than Robbie who is totally out of form.

You are tight about the Papley call and at least 2 of the 4 frees called out of the 10,000 times have been against the Swans. The inconsistency really annoys me. What about the free paid to Bolton when he lowered in tackle but no free to Erol for exactly the same motion as he was deemed to have ducked. Subconscious bias against non Victorian teams when playing Victorian teams.

Yeah it's sad to watch an absolute champion, a man who has kicked over 1000 AFL goals, have so little confidence in himself in front of goal these days...

All he wants to do is play on and get rid of it as quick as he can! Really sad to watch a legend finish like this...
