6 day break after a hard game versus a 7 day break after a witches hats performance a major factor.
But our refusal to play wet weather football, ie tap the ball to team mates ( like Richmond did successfully all night) rather than grab it and get tackled, to not surge the ball forward rather than going sideways and trying to pinpoint targets was frustrating to watch .

Yep Robbie's form gone down the drain sadly once the coaches decided he was the man to take the experimenting tool too. Very frustrating."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

What an utter garbage second half. Not much leadership on show out there at times - brain dead football, alongside brain dead umpiring at times.
Maybe the AFL should consider cards for serious misconduct though. Nankervis will be getting a holiday for that blatant bump yet we had to suffer through almost 3/4s of the game down a key man.
What a microcosm of our frustrating season in a nutshell however.Comment

Toby was a big factor in generating their momentum and clearly we missed the Chad and his aggressive play.Comment

Yes, you could argue that the turning point of the game was Lloyd being taken out, so it's probably worth considering a send off rule. For the motion would be, should the offender be able to go on to have a starring role, while the victim spends the rest of the game watching on from the bench? Also, if the AFL is serious about minimising concussions, than perhaps a stronger disincentive should be introduced? And while I don't really think that AFL umpires would consistently apply the rule, that would probably be less of a problem than in the other codes that already have a send off rule. That is, in league or soccer, teams have 12 players trying to cover 13, or 10 on 11. Whereas in AFL, a send off would just mean one less interchange.

Nankervis was enormous tonight and gave their mids a big advantage- plus his goal. Mills is not yet back to his best and so playing him more back was a bit understandable, but Paps could have spent more time on the ball.

Yep, if you're going to have a down year, have a real down year, now holding pick 5 in a strong draftComment

Yeh, look it started to rain and got a bit colder, it got a bit hard for us and their hands probably got a bit too cold. We were bog awful after half time, mind you we made some horrible kicking errors in the first half. It looked like all their first half goals came from turnovers.
19/7 centre clearances told the story. After half time we couldn't buy a centre clearance and what got me Richmond players were streets away from our blokes. Time to sack the clearance coach. Everyone in the world except the Sydney Swans knows that since the 6/6/6 rule that centre clearances are No.1.
And again, Richmond cleared it from our forward line at will. Their rebounds from our forward line were nauseating. Happens every week. Our forwards are either too slow or not committed.Comment

Longmire said no Chad Warner next week either after a training set back but no other injuries.
Mentioned that Francis was sub due to some concerns around our talls making it through the game.
Hard to explain Hickeys involvement in the game in the 4th qtr. We were getting bulldozed in clearances and he was on the bench. Even when he was on ground McDonald and even Buddy were taking forward half ruck contests.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence our stoppage work looked better with the big presence of McAndrew in the middle. Hickeys looked tired this year and Ladhams is Ladhams.
Personally not too disappointed tonight. Effort was there, umpiring inconsistent and confusing as normal but it’s time to start preparing for 2024 now.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment
