Every time you start feeling even the remotest sliver of sympathy for North just remember Adam's last game and their loser
fans booing him. And in Sydney FFS.

Absolutely spot on! And that's why I'm happy for their losing streak to continue ad infinitum! Have no sympathy for them at all!

The wins by West Coast and Fremantle pretty well locked in the position of our draft picks tied to Hawthorn. That is, North are now highly unlikely to catch Hawthorn and Hawthorn are highly unlikely to catch Fremantle. So, until any free agency compensation picks blow them out, they're 22 and 41. By the way, they're not 21 and 40, because Fremantle have a couple of picks tied to North, that North were given as priority picks and then traded to Fremantle.

Toby Greene really is a joy to watch (when he's not playing us).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I think in the third quarter against the Dogs he was something like 8 possessions, kicked 4.2 and assisted in the
other two goals they kicked that quarter. That is just ridiculous. He is fourth in the Coleman and equal first
in goal assists. He has really taken to the captaincy thing.

The crowds have dropped off for Richmond games with only 52,300 for their home game against Melbourne which obviously included Melbourne supporters. What does this say about their supporters especially when they have 100000 or so members. At least this year the Swans supporters have still been getting 30,000+ to their home games in a so so year of results.

This collection of VFL clips popped up on YouTube, so I thought I might as well have a look.

                  VFL/AFL Moments You've never seen!!! - YouTube

I was stunned by the incident that runs from about 1 minute 20 in. Both by the flagrant violence and the fact that I'd never heard of it, as it obviously would have been infamous at the time. Since it looks like it happened at a South Melbourne home game, perhaps some veteran fans would like to elaborate?

We have 62,000 members, so both teams at around 50% attendance and we are close on the ladder.

They also have members who have memberships for some of the other 8 or so Melbourne based teams so some go to the MCG to see other games on the weekend (whereas non Victorian fans have a maximum of two games in their state/city to go see each weekend).

Just a thought relating to the initial post:

I wonder if Cairns might be an option for Team 20. A slightly larger population than Darwin and growing (from the Cairns Regional Council website - In the past 30 years, Cairns' population has nearly doubled - growing from 89,000 residents in 1992, to more than 165,000 today - and it’s predicted to reach up to 265,000 by 2050. That’s 100,000 more people than live here today), is not in a two-team market such as Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and (ostensibly) Brisbane), not in a strong RL market and far enough away from Townsville, has its own local comp, has a welded on NBA Cairns Taipans supporter base which in part could ease across to follow their AFL side in the winter.

Nothing to like about north or the eagles. We should never forget north fans booing Goodesy in his final game (and earlier in the season at Docklands), nor should we forget that Goodesy took a break from the game for reasons of mental health preservation after being booed relentlessly and with hostility in Perth by that blue and yellow scum.

I still recall Jack Ziebell coming out in Adam's defence (and have admired him since), and I also seem to recall adam simpson saying after that shameful game that he didn't really notice much booing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Four rounds to go, and St Kilda are a mathematical chance to finish 15th. They are currently fifth. It came up when I was running the Squiggle ladder predictor a few times.

So I wouldn't worry too much about finishing 15th, a lot of teams can still end up there.

(And for the record, the ladder predictor mostly had us finishing 10th, our current position.)

Deja, this incident occurred in a reserves match in 1985. In the early 80s, there was a reserve game played at the old South ground and televised on Channel 7 on the Sunday afternoons when there wasn't a Swans game in Sydney to televise. It wasn't always a Swans reserves game that was televised but the clip is our reserves versus Collingwood reserves. The Collingwood player, John Bourke, was suspended for 10 years which was later reduced to 6 years. He was apparently leading the Reserves goalkicking at the time of the incident.

I think it was in 1985 at a reserves match. Bourke (Collingwood #13) got suspended for 10 years.

Anyone who opposes a send-off rule should keep that incident in mind.
