From an outsider's perspective, these seem like marvellous appointments. Perhaps it's only Geelong (who we've clearly modelled our administration on) who does succession any better than the Swans.

Swans coaching staff met in Melb today and apparently Stuart Dew was present at the meeting….

Don't think there's 'room' for Dew in the coaching box LOL

He was highly regarded when last here so wouldn't surprise if he was invited to return, now of course with five tough years as a senior coach under his (very large) belt

So you don't think monitoring skinfolds should be part of his remit?

I’m thrilled for him that he’s making his way through the coaching pathways but I wonder if he’ll be an unfortunate loss for the women’s programme? Maybe there’s some scope for him to keep working with the AFLW squad in some capacity given neither that nor the academy programme run for the full year. Certainly Gulden is still involved with both, and maybe Nick Davis too. I’m not sure how much he is still involved with the various academy teams.

While I've no real idea of what O'Riordan is like as a coach, I'm guessing he must have done a very good job with the women's team, in order for him to get the academy job. But I've been really impressed by what Gowans has said in interviews this season, so hopefully he'll play a role in selecting a worthy successor.

And assuming that Tadhg remains coach of the GWS academy, it will be a clash of the Irish coaches when we play them.

I thought our coaching staff were all accounted for. Horse, Cox, Mark McVeigh, Jarrad McVeigh, Ben Matthews & Aemon Buchanan & Damien Trusslove. The last two being development & Reserves

We don't need parallel discussions on the exact same topic happening in multiple threads. The discussion in this thread started first, so this is its home.
