I'd forgotten until this evening that Blakey had glandular fever during the pre-season. That makes his season even more commendable.

Very happy for Rowie- gave his all this year! The Lizard was superb in so many games and as for Errol: the first of many to come. Well done boys!

Blakey and Errol are fair. But as much as I like Rowbottom I wouldn't have him as our 3rd best player. But I guess like the Brownlow it probably favours mids?

I don't think it intrinsically favours midfielders. Blakey came second this year. Rampe and Lloyd are fairly recent winners.

I think it operates as something of a handicap system (unless external awards) in that coaches reward players doing what is expected of them. As Longmire said in his "blurb" about Rowbottom, he does what is expected of him every week.

I confess I thought that Rowbottom's first half of the season didn't rock my boat - even against what I was expecting from him. He was much better after the bye, but I am slightly surprised he finished as high as third. I suspect that has something to do with those tasked more with "making the play" not performing especially well in the first half of the year.

Does anyone know if 257 is a record winning margin in the whole history of the club? I can imagine Skilts himself might’ve had a few decent wins.
Congratulations to Errol, Nick and James; a terrific top three.

Errol was awesome! Blakey a well deserved 2nd as well.

Interesting Heeney didn’t make top 10 despite playing nearly every game.

He had a pretty ordinary season by his standards- I suspect his ankle wasn’t 100%. Nevertheless, he should be in the top 10 as he played a few very good games. Hoping next year he will be back to his best as he is such a super talent!

I like Rowy but surprised he finished so high, didn’t think he had a great year

Congratulations to Errol, he really could be something amazing, and to all the award winners! Really pleased to see Blakey get recognition for a superb season.

I also hope that failing to get in the top 10 is a kick in the pants for Heeney and he comes back next year ready to fulfil his talent.

And freaking yay, as the self-appointed and long-standing chair of the Hayden McLean cheer squad, so rapt to see my man nab Most Improved. Awesome.
Maybe Kirky was a bit over the top but what came through to me was how highly Sheldrick is rated by the club. In terms of improving our contested possession and clearance problem, it would great if he was injury free and ready to have a serious impact in 2024.

Apart from one minor hiccup, I thought the host was terrific.More personable than Adam Spencer and a gigantic improvement on that shambling guy with the great voice and nothing else who used to do it.I missed her name, but would be happy to see her continue in the slot.Errol is going to be anything. Hard to determine his ceiling.

Plenty of improvement to come next year when you consider how highly Sheldrick is rated and how highly Horse rates Jack Buller. Grundy is a must and a quality defender would be nice.

I’ll make a big call now- Errol is the best small we’ve had since Bobby Skilton. I think he’s going to be better than Diesel, and that’s saying something! Plus he’s home grown and hope he stays with us forever……..Oh Errol!
