A great effort by all our winners of their awards. Does anyone remember if there was a name to the best and fairest before it became the Bob Skilton medal. I have looked through old South stuff that I have but can't find anything.

Rowy was the highest rated for pressure and also tackling. That would have impressed the coaches. I reckon he had a superb year and justified the opinions of a lot of posters here during the time of you know who.

Have been a Blood since 1961, chuckie, and don't recall the B and F having a special name before it was named after our champ. However, as I'm closer to 70 than 60, I'm finding my memory isn't as reliable as I would like it to be!

No, I think you're right, I can't recall there ever being a name for the clubs B&F award before rightly being named after Skilts.

I go back to the early 60's as well and didn't think there was a previous name

Should have been called the Skilton Medal earlier. He won the B&F 9 times.

Great to see HarryC make the top 10.

Going off thread, but it be nice if the Lakeside/Bob Jane stadium is renamed to the Bob Skilton stadium despite footy no longer played there.

Great idea but might be a big ask seeing South Melbourne soccer Club, formally South Melbourne Hellas, are the occupants.

Yes, good old South Melbourne Hellas who wanted us to pay them for use of the Lake Oval for the "Sunday morning after the Grand Final celebrations " in 2005. We didn't pay and had the celebrations at the grounds of the South Melbourne Districts Football Club instead.

(We did have the "morning after" celebrations at the Lake Oval in 2012, though. Not sure if we paid for the use of the ground or South Melbourne Soccer Club realised the error of their ways in 2005.)

I was at both days. How good were they? Mummy made a late entrance in 2012!

Both days were magnificent, unforgettable celebrations, BF!!

(At least Mummy made it to the ground in 2012. I don't think Rhyce Shaw got there. Or if he did, he was well hidden. I went to the airport to see the team head off to Sydney and I have never seen anyone as "over-refreshed" as Rhyce Shaw was!)

Didn't know there was a 'convoy' to Tullamarine!

I was at both as well. Recall Bobby Skilton being hoisted up on a cheery picker from the back of the wooden members stand, to attach 2005 flag on the rooftop flag pole. Took grainy video of occasion on my phone at the time. Lost footage.

2012 I also took snaps. Took one of the late Danny Frawley interviewing & presenting Teddy Richards the Golden Fist award, in the media section.
