Yes, while I think Fox spent plenty of time on Lever tonight, I was wondering if we'll see him play more of the role that Clarke sometimes played. That is, trying to shut down the opposition's most effective rebounder, such as Daniel or Sinclair. I suppose we'll find out next week, if he gets sent to N Daicos.

Grundy is worth every cent we're paying him. Nice win!

I was cooking and then having family dinner from midway through the third quarter so couldn’t comment.

Fantastic result, despite the umpires’ best efforts to help the Dees with lopsided decisions.

I still stand by my original post that the Demons have 8-9 players that would be in best 22 (eg Petracca, May, Lever, Salem, Fritsch, Oliver, etc) but we played better as a team and had better tactics.

So awesome to have a big win when some of the markets had as barest of favourites, like $1.88 to win vs $1.95.

We need class around the ball and Heeney is all class and all toughness
Yeah, I think I agree now after always being of the belief 'he's a forward, leave him there'....but after tonight where he was just a beast in the middle I'm now all for Heeney in the guts!

I can’t believe that you RWOers aren’t as excited as I am! That has to be the most significant Swans win for years?

Without 3 of our hardest inside midfielders we dominated the best inside midfield side in the competition and turned what’s been our #1 weakness into a potential strength.

If we can keep it up …

Fingers crossed Grundy and Heeney can perform like that week in week out.

Kudos to the players and the coaches (without Don “the messiah” Pyke). Simon Goodwin said that our contest / clearance work was just too good for them in the second half.

I’m seriously excited about 2024 now

Bring on 2024 - something tells me we are in for a very fine one celebration of a big milestone for the club!
It is wonderful to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Cecil Football club - and it's iconic blue and white colours. . . . .

For those that choose to cheer, cheer the red and the white - the 157th anniversary of those colours is also a wonderful thing.

Either way, I hope it's a joyous year for all.

Nice to see you leave your former srtrongly held opinion, I hope your new position will allow for a little felxability.
I'd like to see Heeney usage made conditional and variable. A mixture of forward and midfield - not just from game to game, but moment to moment.

                    Great never say die attitude.
Fought hard for that win and those points will count big time at the end of the season.
What an exciting night at the SCG.

I don’t believe Matt Robert’s has got a mention so far. I thought he’s game was probably better than good. He didn’t get a huge amount of the ball, but when he did he didn’t waste it. Disposal was close to 100%. Also I cannot recall him getting beaten in a one-on-one contest. Another positive is that he took the kick out duties several times. Rare for someone so young. In the presser, when asked a question about Robert’s, Longmire said something along the lines - I think we’ve got a good one there.

Saw Longmire say after the game we had six players running through the middle aged 23 or under. So JJ, Warner, Rowie, Gulden, McInerney and Campbell. But it didn't feel like that, if it makes sense. It showed the benefits of the guys now having three, four or five preseasons under their belt that can handle both the physical contest and two-way running. Of course it helped having Grundy and Heeney in there with serious size.

But we were up against one of the most physical midfields in the game who went hard and won the contest in the first quarter, and we wore them down. I was pleasantly surprised.

+1 As others have also mentioned, a very moving & stirring piece. The Swans media have been high quality so far this year in all aspects of coverage. Keep it up!

Seeing all those happy Swans champions of the past in the room after the game was great to see. But i also felt sadness that Barry Round & Kenny Williams weren't there, as they so integral in the early Sydney years.

That is a rabbit warren I suggest not worth going down at this point in time haha. Lets just enjoy it for what it is. If you want to see it as a 7 year delayed celebration of the 150th, lets run with that too

That is so good - and yep, having her step up to the role this year was an inspired choice.
