Easy as you like too deja! Sometimes I think the less footballers think about it, the better haha!

Getting the feeling these umpires have backed the Giants.

Lugsdin had a nice game - well done young man!

          Enjoyed that as a contest.

Not 100% sold on Parker being quite ready for the Seniors (but of course no issues if they do pick him). Had plenty of the pill and plenty of clearances, but a bit of a mixed bag using it. Likewise, Campbell was a lot more involved than he has been at senior level, but something just not quite working for him at the moment. Needs some time to build his confidence back up (freely admit I was wrong about my hopes for his season so far in 2024).

Liked the game of Caleb Mitchell, and Cleary continues to impress.

If Hamling put in a run of games like that up forward, he could give himself a shot for promotion - but I suspect it probably suggests he is a fair way down the pecking order at this point.

Didn't mind some of the moments from Snell either.

Plenty of good stuff mixed in, and nice to hang on for the win. An enjoyable encore to the main event today. Still finding it strange to watch footy at the SCG with a camera on the other side however!

Not discounting his good game but i reckon ive got more chance of being a fwd in league than Hamling

Why bother putting him up fwd after a 12 yr career down back?

And i get bagged for suggesting putting Amartey down back

Bit harsh wa, but get your point. I suspect it was probably a bit of a forced reshuffle given Ladham's didn't play - but he played well in that role, suited to it or not.

Looks like McCartin will be some time out. Are you picking Snell, Francis or Hamelin?

I think Francis is clearly first in line - despite clear reservations. Edwards however continues to improve and is a clear 2nd on the list now for mine. Snell looks raw and young but has promise. Hamling playing most of tonight up forward says all that needs to be said about where he probably is in the current pecking order - although as per previous comment, I suspect it was more due to Ladhams going out and needing another tall up there than a wider comment on where he sits.

I suspect we will see Fox start and someone else come in to the 23. But if they do want the extra tall, Francis is probably 1st in line, though Edwards continues to develop (still a year off I reckon but making big bounds forward this year).

I was impressed with Hamlings kicking for goal. Seems to be a sharpshooter.

Was also impressed that Green is starting to get more involved in the game. Did some really good one on one work, tackling, marking and rucking. Has plenty of pace and spring. He looks like a good pickup.

Edwards to me is the KPD in waiting now. He looks very assured with the ball. Tall, strong, fast and a super boot. Has to get a game soon.

It was also good to see Vickery start to show something after a subdued stretch.

And what about the lug nut ! : )

Think it was in jest lol, no match up for him down back today and we are short in the fwd 50 - he provided a target - he’s no chance of playing league footy unless Frances and Mitchell are injured

The commentators thought that Francis was being rested in the final quarter, rather than injured. So if that's the case, it might mean that he's being strongly considered to replace McCartin. Not sure if I can think of another reason to rest him if he wasn't injured? Which I don't mind, as I actually think that he's been very good this season.

Though I've also been very pleased with the past couple of games by Edwards. He might have won every contest tonight, except for one late in the third, when the umpire paid in the back, when he could have easily played holding the ball? His disposal has been pretty sharp, as well.

And I've just checked on James Lugsdin, since I didn't really recall him being that good when he played for the academy. Which is more or less correct. In that, he played five Talent League games last season, alternating between midfielder and small forward, but only kicked 3 goals and gathered a total of 75 disposals. Nor was there any real talk of him being a genuine draft prospect. So, good luck to him for seemingly improving his game over the off-season. Hope he keeps it up. Although I did get his height slightly wrong. At 177cm, he's not too small for the AFL.

Yes, Green seemed to enjoy the absence of Ladhams, as he was able to both compete in more ruck contests and roam free around the ground.

And I was also pleased that Vickery had a pretty good game, as I was starting to get close to labelling him a delist.

At last someone agrees with my assessment on Green. Yes he is raw but by 2026 I can see him being one of the top ruckman in the AFL. It was strange to notice Hamling is such a great kick for goal. That last goal from the boundary was a beauty.

Freo aren’t that tall up fwd. won’t we just play the same setup as against the giants post headknock and bring in Parker for McCartin?
