I’d say that’s the most likely outcome, Fox to play tall back

Francis on the bench or is that too much of a risk not carrying a mid ?

I don’t mind Francis when it comes to a punch and spoil plus he can mark

Probably a safe bet unless we are taking a 3 plus week view ?

Good game to watch on Saturday evening and there is a stack of players in ressies that you sense will play AFL in their career - from both teams.

Our depth looks really good this season. Popped down below some thoughts on players that enjoyed watching on the weekend.

Green an obvious future AFL player but probably 2 to 3 seasons away minimum due to height light and a ruck. Such great skills.

Francis I would probably keep for 2025 especially with Reid probably retiring. Was quite in the game and played well.

Will Edwards was also on show and played a strong game. I suspect he could take over from a Melican in the next 12-24months if he keeps improving at the same rate. More so a 2025 player but might get a game if he keeps pushing.

Campbell looked good and needed a big run along with Parker. Both played well both.

        Hamling steady.

Sheldrick was ok. Lots of miss directed kicks. I do sense he won’t feature much until 2025ish. He is a bit clunky still and there are a few piggys in the middle ahead of him now. Heeney has been a game changer in the middle and when Parker, Patch, Mills, Rowbottom are going at there isn’t much room for Gus.

Konstanty good with out being great. Just needs to keep chipping away like Dawso did in the ressies. Building the tank. Wicks probably still has one over him for another season. Adams and Parker also get more of a 50/50 split in the mids and forwards as the season goes on.

Cleary may over take Sheldrick I suspect. Caiden just has more of a spring, dynamic exits and is running a 6min 2km trial these days. He is clean enough and no worse in decision making than Gus.

Mitchell still dominates at ressie level and looks a class above despite a quieter game in disposals. Has that Issac Smith and even Dawson movement about him as a similar young player. I have been looking for who will bit by bit replace Cunningham and Lloyd in the future. I mean Harry when I saw him as a junior was always and outside running hard kicking long wing. So it is possible Mitchell and Roberts could replace those two in a couple seasons.

McAndrew at 23yrs of age now still could play a role but probably behind Ladhams. Looks like he understands his role well and is hard to beat. I hope we keep him for a few years as a great budget option with 10 years in him is hardy and fairly athletic for a 209cm ruck.

Snell could be a very valuable pick up. Fast athletic and not sure if the stat is correct at 194cm as he looks more 192cm max? Does tend to hunch over a lot though so rarely see him upright unless marking.

Magor and Ben Edwards are easy to confuse when the game is moving quick. Hair do and similar heights / shape. Good transition player Magor from the backline.

Shipley ex gws played well and looked strong.

Lovely kick from Campbell to set up that Smit goal.

Hamling looks like he's still enjoying life in the forward line.

Good effort to be in front 26-9 at the quarter. All the midfielders have been busy, with Cleary leading the way with 12 possessions. Our pressure is generally causing North to bomb it into their forwards, which Snell and Edwards have been dealing with.

McAndrew off the ground by concussion, hope he is OK. Moi Moi looking dangerous up forward, I think he has gone past Konstanty, who continues to disappoint. Cleary looks a AFL player of the future.

Fairly scrappy, but competitive game. Did pretty well to be in front 41-30 at half time. Winning the tackle count 26-11, with Campbell leading the way with 5. Looks like it's the turn of Moi Moi to pop up in the forward line, with 3 goals so far. All the midfield have gone pretty well. In defence, Magor has been using the ball well, Snell and Edwards have been strong in the air, and Geddes has had some important efforts.

Might have a problem in the ruck, with McAndrew seeming like he won't be back with a possible concussion, and Ladhams having a bit of a limp for a while. Hopefully young Green will step up: he's done a few good things already.

Good pressure to keep it locked in the forward line, until Shipley finally scrambled it through.

Ladhams is fit and currently firing.

Odd quarter, in that I thought we were marginally the better side, but somehow lost it 5 goals to 3. Ladhams was having a good quarter, until he decided that he could pinpoint a chip kick coming out of the back pocket. He couldn't. Looks like the wind has picked up and may have been favouring North.
