Losing Rampe for Corey Warner was a big swing. Corey is still quite two-grabby and Mitchell was ok but lost several contests.

    We lacked leadership.

Gulden and Chad were profligate at times and we can't afford that.

Feels a bit like we got ahead of ourselves.

Love him but Ramps is nearly 34, if losing him matters then we have big issues

Mids were nowhere in the 50/50s, all ran fwd, not hard for the contest

Rampe is in form and it mattered because it was in game. We find out next week what the backline will look like without him.

I have noticed he does the around the corner kick when he is not confident. I recall last year at the MCG when he was having a shot straight on and he set up for the around the corner kick. Parker went up to him and must have told him not to do it because he then straightened up. Funnily enough he kicked the goal. Today he was definitely in the wrong position to try the around the corner kick.

I was at the game and it was Richmond's forward pressure that stopped our defensive run. It felt like we kept turning into trouble and had nowhere to go. There were so many rushed handballs and who can forget all those turnover kicks!

We lost 4 pts to a team that wont be near the 8, very poor for an interstate team that needs a top 4 finish to contend

Exactly. This is a game we should not have lost. No excuse. I'm very disappointed with this result as I felt pretty confident during the week. Gutted by this performance as we had an excellent chance to be 5-0 heading into our bye. We'll likely be 4-1, which is still good, but undefeated would have put us in a very strong position for the rest of the season. I hope we learn a lot from today.

Agree. We need every win we can get as the draw gets tough from Round 8.

Fascinating game to break down an learn from........overall for me a loss that wasnt a blow out. I'm optimistic still after the first 4 games.

If all teams had played 4 games to date.....we might be sitting 5th? ish

                      So not panic stations yet.

Obviously some big standout stats like we only lost by 5 points against a team that played really well. The tigers used their width on the big field very very well. They Tigers opened up angles and time with the ball a high level yesterday to control the game better than we did.

It felt like we just couldnt defensively shape the Tigers onto our terms ie direct the Tigers ball movement to the areas we wanted to counter attack from. Our counter attack pockets were empty yesterday in comparison.

The Tigers did what we have done last few weeks with their inside 50 mark pressure.........7 to 13 Tigers just put way too many scoreboard opportunities in the Tigers lap. ie this was because our pressure down field was really off. The tigers were able to get some decent balls in and hot to their forwards.

Tackles 44 to 59 Tigers..........we just fumbled too much around the contested ball, didnt increase the pressure via tackling hard and certainly could NOT gain advantage in breaking hard and fast from the contested ball.

At the other end of the oval it appeared the Tigers set up in their defence with some really good decision makers that counter attacked beautifully. Tackles inside 50......... was 4 to 14 Tigers........wow wee.......that one hurt. The combo yesterday of Pickett and Daniel Rolio coming off the HBFs was a class above and then their linking with Shai Bolton was back to their triad best !

It also felt like Rowbottom was the only Swan player that tackled yesterday???

Rowbottom 13 tackles then next best was Chad at 5 tackles ?

Next game I'm expecting a big response in tackle pressure and a massive step up shaping the game off the ball.

No team can allow the opposition to dictate running patterns and space ahead of the ball over 4 quarters of footy and expect to win.

Lastly the 3 kicks by Errol Gulden mid way through the last qtr where turned the ball over on all 3 ...................and we were 70-73 on the scoreboard............I dont think we will ever see him use the ball so badly on the 3 occasions in 2mins ever again.

It didnt even look like Errol Gulden........no pressure on him and he gave it to the Tigers 3 out of 3 !

Richmond are a better team than people think. In a way the loss might turn out to be a good thing, stops us getting ahead of ourselves and makes it easier to see the weak links earlier.

At one point our pressure rating was 150ish to Richmond’s 230 ! No one wanted to get dirty today

No one will be harder on Errol than himself.
Our pressure was way down yesterday; the Tigers were able to just walk out of defence. Perhaps a few players did get ahead of themselves, so just the wake up call needed, and early enough in the season to sort it out.

some accurate quotes in earlier post. primma donna, bcommentators bias on fox with reiwold (similar to Jobe wtson, they should not be on when teams they played for are on),looks like a side who are listening to the press, hayward should never kick around the corner, (he kicks sccurately when he runs straight)As to the game VERYVERY disappointing Back line struggles without Ramps. need to bring in Hamling (not sure but appears nothing else with Arnold hurt and snell needing a few more games. For god sake not Ladhams (ever) no brains. Looks like Adams will play evben if he is short of a gallop.
