If the mids are only running one way then the defender is in for a tough day, much less a defender on a fwd as good as Lynch

And the fact he’s only, 195cm he’s fights out his weight to often, he also has zero help Melican is193cm and yesterday he stank basically allowed Bolta do what he wanted, I hope Fox comes back to fill Rampes spot and getting Cunningham back will provided us some experience, calm heads and 2 boys who know how to block amd be an extra number at the contest

Yeah that did look bad....but about 2 seconds before that Lynch laid his shoulder into Lloyd's head on the boundary line straight after Lloyd did the underground handball to Tom.....Jake looked up as if to say "what the f%&k", it should have been his free but nothing to see there apparently.

Not really. Dusty is past his prime and no longer their best. Despite this being their first win, they have been close enough against both Carlton and Port. They out-pressured, out-tackled and outplayed us in the middle, in defence (our forward entries were monotonously appalling & gave us no chance & we didn’t seem to have a plan up front - can’t believe how many intercepts the viking was able to make) and to top it off, our own defensive effort was a mess of panic and ineptitude. Blakey & Tommy had numerous forgetful moments.

Taranto, Bolton & the aforementioned Viking (maybe coaching partly enabled this) all had huge games, & we seemed to allow Pickett to look better than I think he really is.

The tigers are a decent side. When they turn up, they can beat anyone. We’re a good young side, but if we don’t turn up, anyone can beat us. And I mean anyone.

Having said that, if Vlastuin doesn’t get that non-existent free kick with a minute to go - we win a game we probly didn’t deserve to win. Umps have a tendency to ruin a good finish.

Simply put, our backline is good but fragile. An injury or form lapse here and there and it can quickly unravel.

Our forward line is not much better.

But saying that, I'm still bullish on the swans.

Very disappointing effort but still 3-1. Not panicking just yet. Selection could get interesting the next few weeks though.
Longmire made the point that we had 13 players 24 and under in the side.and that can still mean some inconsistency in performance. A number of our young players are a few years away from their peak. Parker, Mills and Adams will be helpful when they are fit to resume.

Excellent post! I noticed in the last quarter they were able to maintain the tackling pressure to which most bottom sides struggle so maybe they are better than most people think. Only thing going forward is the query on Swans mental toughness should a bottom side turn on the heat.

Gee thanks. We will hopefully learn from that one. Good coaches will always have a plan – & Yze seems like a decent one – they stuck to theirs and it worked.

Funny but not funny how they admit the last free kick was total BS…

It's just always the same. If we are off more a few per cent and the other team isn't then we lose. The coaches talk
about it all the time. Just trying to keep that same level of intensity/focus/what-have-you week-in, week-out is ridiculously
hard to do. With the exception of West Coast, there are just no bad teams in the AFL.

Was interesting comment by Nick V re the Tigers game plan

Tigers forwards had to chase hard right up the back of our backline moving forward.............create a turnover there and then before we are out the gate.

They did this well the Tiges and we didnt adjust enough. Tiges forwards where fast and chased us down a fair few times from behind.

Tiges pressure from behind will be a blue print for teams to see what worked against the Swans.

Looking forward to how we combat this ........... need alot more work off the ball by our backs to minimise the chase from behind. Or for our forwards to take more marks in our 50 like we did the first 3 weeks

26 votes to 4 in the coaches' award and one team wins by a goal. Mmm. Still, well done Isaac with the 4.

The Tigers cleverly played down the wing that comprised Warner Jr/Mitchell/Roberts throughout most of the third qr - a cohort with not 10 full games to their name I suspect. Clever Tiges, but it was a reminder if one was needed that you don't lose experience like Parker, Mills, Rampe and Cunningham and replace them with newbies and expect the same result.

Anyway, onwards and upwards (I hope).

I often feel that way after we've lost a close game and most (or sometimes all) the votes have gone to the opposition. But in this instance I think it's a fair reflection on the game. The scoreboard flattered us somewhat because the five points they won by were exactly that, five points. Five more scoring shots. And some of them were quite straightforward shots that they missed.

I can't think of another Swan who deserved votes. Rowbottom was our best in the first half by some margin (and kept us in it early and kick-started the second quarter revival). But he was almost invisible after half-time other than keeping up the tackle pressure. I liked Grundy's game. I think it was his best four quarter performance for us yet, but not through dominating in the ruck and more through his efforts post-stoppage.

Some of the rest had some good moments, particularly in the second quarter, but I don't think any of them (or Rowbottom or Grundy) were better than Vlastuin, Bolton, Taranto or Rioli. Though I think I'd have thrown a vote towards Maurice rather than Daniel. That's the best game I've seen him play (admittedly only a small sample of Tigers' games).
