While I can understand why this reference to the Wicks affair was deleted as speculative (although I was unaware that was the position that RWO was taking on the subject), I do find the almost total absence of discussion of the matter on this board very strange. Have I missed the official comms somewhere?

I recognise the media guardians have given us very little to go on (thereby pretty much inviting speculation) but surely this is a matter of some interest to fans on an internet fan site?

      agree Liz

on face value it seemed lopsided and lacking in balance to weight the opposition so many player points....................but besides Rowy and Heeney it did look like all players were in catch up mode.........maybe the 32 disposals or so by Lloyd were under valued? I thought Grundy was also still strong and way ahead of his opposite number with double disposals approx.

Lets be honest Tiges controlled this game and the points to their players seemed fair.

Shout out to Robbo again..............27 disposals...........not all great like his team mates but he is having a red hot go

What is there to discuss? None of us knows more than the fact he was not selected for last weekend's game and didn't travel, and that it was somehow related to a disagreement within the player group on a non-football matter. That's all been discussed on here.

The club clearly doesn't want to provide further details. Speculating about what happened is pretty pointless and, while the risk might be low, potentially opens up legal risk to RWO if someone's speculations become too colourful or imaginative.

I can't think of another Swan who deserved votes. Rowbottom was our best in the first half by some margin (and kept us in it early and kick-started the second quarter revival). But he was almost invisible after half-time other than keeping up the tackle pressure. I liked Grundy's game. I think it was his best four quarter performance for us yet, but not through dominating in the ruck and more through his efforts post-stoppage.

Some of the rest had some good moments, particularly in the second quarter, but I don't think any of them (or Rowbottom or Grundy) were better than Vlastuin, Bolton, Taranto or Rioli. Though I think I'd have thrown a vote towards Maurice rather than Daniel. That's the best game I've seen him play (admittedly only a small sample of Tigers' games).
          Agree with all of that.

Tigers forwards had to chase hard right up the back of our backline moving forward.............create a turnover there and then before we are out the gate.

They did this well the Tiges and we didnt adjust enough. Tiges forwards where fast and chased us down a fair few times from behind.

Tiges pressure from behind will be a blue print for teams to see what worked against the Swans.

Looking forward to how we combat this ........... need alot more work off the ball by our backs to minimise the chase from behind. Or for our forwards to take more marks in our 50 like we did the first 3 weeks
          Interesting!

Well, we were outplayed on the day, let’s face it the scoreboard flattered us. Even when the siren went they were in a goal scoring position. We were out- pressured and as a result fumbled and misdirected many passes and handballs. Our backing up was missing and we played in patches. Yes, we can make excuses that we had a crop of inexperienced players but let’s just admit we were beaten by a better team on the day and hopefully learn from it. We simply left it to too few- we can’t afford passengers if we are to make top 4- simple as that. I was disappointed in the team as a whole, without picking out individuals who were either ok or next to invisible with their contributions.

That certainly does sound one sided but it is a fair indication that one side played very well (and maybe above themselves) and the other played quite badly (and as I think we can safely predict, below themselves).

We can take solace that we still got so close to winning.....and that we likely won't repeat this insipid performance IF we learn from it....as we should.

I agree that discussion on the Wicks stuff shouldn't be restricted IF this is the case....but I made reference to it on the List Management thread and my post is still there. Also, we don't know enough to discuss it properly anyway, just what Caro has said about it.

It seems certain that the club are trying not to make a big deal out of it and Longmire has stated that Wicks is back with the squad and back in the selection frame so they're implying it's business as usual. I certainly hope so.

I need need more details on the Sam Wicks story. Swans supporters deserve better than this.

Whoever leaked the story can’t expect us to accept the condensed version of events.

I want more info and suspect most Swans fans feel the same.

I think Liz? has said similar, but it translates to five players getting votes, with Heeney judged by both coaches to be the fourth most impactful player on the ground, after Vlaustin, Bolton and Tarranto, and both coaches saying Rioli was the next most influential player on the day. Seemed reasonable to me.

For those saying the scoreline flattered us, and that they could have easily kicked more goals, well we could also have easily kicked a few more too. E.g., when Warner tried a 60 meter bomb when there was a 1 on 1 in the goal square for us with one of our talls, or when we had a big surge and Papley late in the fourth just kicked long to a waiting Vlaustin, when he could have kicked it anywhere else and made it an outnumber chase to the ball.

The story became the business of the fans when it was leaked. You can’t leak a dressing room issue story and expect no further questions to be asked.

If the story was not leaked then it would not be the business of the fans.

During halftime of the Eagles game today, Fox showed footage from the Richmond game of Rowbottom and he was mic'ed up. He was really impressive the way he organised the players and encouraged them. He showed real leadership and the footage showed just how hard he works.

The video of the above Rowbottom footage is now on the Swans app (and I assume also on the Swans site).
