Every team has a player that I call a little
s***. Papley is our little s*** ????. If he played for another team I know he would irritate me!

As I posted later, I think this was one of our best wins in recent memory due to turning it around after looking so putrid early. Showed some real heart and toughness that I wasn't sure we had until now. There's a long way to go, but I am really hoping we can continue this fairytale run all the way!

Yes it is... and at the time of posting I stand by my comment... it's easy to scroll through a forum and pick things off after the fact... well done to you...

It was a truly extraordinary team. We could see what was coming since at least 2020 and it's been a joy to watch them develop.

Exactly - I have been following the Swans for over 50 years and I do believe this is the best Swans team I have ever seen over that period.

It's really great to see Amartey involved strongly for long periods of the game compared to earlier in the season.

Ladhams looks like he won't get back into our side now, barring injury.

                Errol with 37 disposals, amazing.

Papley was huge, as was Heeney. Warner with that awesome speed late in the fourth quarter.

Great and exciting game to watch after being six goals down.

If we beat Adelaide next week, we will be 12 points clear of 2nd place (Carlton, who have an extra game played). Amazing!

Joel Amartey is really turning into some spearhead, as well.

Amartey really is. Tremendous high contested mark and has become an excellent, clutch goal kicker. He is quick for a big guy and is getting better at consistently applying defensive pressure in the forward 50. Also running out games better.

A little surprised and very impressed. He's clearly worked hard on his game.

Not a bad return for a second round rookie draft pick!

What a weird start and amazing finish.

The atmosphere at the ground was electric and I loved how players like Heeney and Warner celebrated with the crowd after their goals. Awesome!

Grundy was superb and I think is our most important player. Melican down back has been a revelation and also good to see Amartey kick straight.

Clearly the usual suspects of Chad, Isaac and Errol were sublime.

Brilliant tap to Gulden in the last quarter for a very special goal are only a couple. His centre bounce work and taps to advantage and follow ups have been a big part in our improvement. He reminds me of the great tap work by Jason Ball around goal. You could see Gulden set up for the tap just to Grundy's left. Both knew where the ball was going. In most games Grundy has taken his opponent to the cleaners. He gave English a father of a hiding against the Dogs.

Melican can be exposed one on one and Hawkins had his number early but they made a change, when Blakey went off I noticed they sent Cameron in the 50 and Melican struggled with him - but when he gets the right match up he’s effective. Amarty has been a big improver as others have stated and if he’s allowed a run and jump he’s a real weapon - I think that’s the beauty of having so many goal scorers it takes the pressure off and allows everyone to play to their strengths.

Maybe I didn’t explain myself very well. The point of my post wasn’t so much to critique his tap work, though as I said, I thought he was very good last night.

The main point was to praise what he brings to our overall midfield posture and performance. We’ve often lamented on here the defensive set up we’ve deployed in the centre square and at stoppages. But with Grundy’s arrival, we’ve moved to an offensive system that allows us to exploit the elite and explosive mids we have. That’s partly because they have faith that not only will he win a good share of contests, but he’ll halve plenty too and then serve as another big body clearing space, tackling and winning the ball at ground level. That’s before you even account for what he does around the ground. Even look at Rowie this year. He’s gone from a bloke who clung on, tackled and scragged for dear life, to a player who now also has the confidence to hunt the ball. Five centre square clearances last night.

Getting Grundy to the club has been a masterstroke. As our young mids come into their prime and now have the strength and tank to take advantage of their footy ability, Grundy’s presence has given them the added confidence needed to go full bore forward.

                          Hope that makes better sense.

Agree re Grundy. Scott downplayed his influence after the game, but he dominated taps and at ground level. He always grinds down his opponent.

When Geelong came at us late, winning some centre clearances, it was during his absence.

He is absolutely critical to our 11-1 season.

Yes, Joel has really come along. He looked like a big-time full forward yesterday. He and McDonald are still pretty young and will be
inconsistent for a while but their upside is massive. You can see next year and the year after they will be a formidable pair up forward on
a consistent basis. We are fortunate to have so many guys with a boot on them that can slot long-range goals.

I agree we look amazing at this point, but I am a little scared to get too excited yet! There is such a long way to go and everyone on the outside (media, other supporters) are basically saying that it's our flag to lose... the frightens the crap out of me as they are so hard to win as everything needs to go right!

We look sensational at the moment, let's hope we manage ourselves well on the way to finals so we are cherry ripe and playing like this when it counts! [emoji4]
