My fave goal for how in synch and committed we are was the Gulden goal early in the second quarter. I thought it was special at the time so I went back today and watched it in detail.
It started at a throw in at our d50 arc. When the ball goes forward you can see Hayward tracking it, but when the GWS defender spoils it, Hayward holds his spot bang in the centre circle in case he’s needed defensively. Warner grabs it and scramble kicks it forward. Hayward has given 15m head start to his opponent Ash.
When Ash gathers it, Wilbur literally sprints after him to close space. A lot of players would move in that direction, but not go as hard as he did. You then see from the replay after the goal we are just perfectly set up behind the ball. Not an inch given to a GWS player, and Hayward gives him zero choice anyway.
He’s forced inside, and Amartey powers forward to make a contest, forces the spillage, and Aleer gathers the ball. McLean belts him in a tackle and the ball spills free again. Paps swoops and handballs to Errol to goal. Just total team commitment from start to finish.
Oh, and at the original throw in, Errol was positioned as the defensive sweeper way back inside our d50.
Unreal.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Another solid win! We are probably a bit harder on the boys seeing how good they've been and the high standards they've set, but the Giants are a strong side, so to win like this at their home ground is impressive! Well done Swans, there's room for improvement, which is a plus!

Great match.
Some learnings. Some improvements from previous weeks. They are playing like a team. And are desperate. Errol what a player - the running, the time on ground he spends, the kicking efficiency under pressure, he is the most complete player you can expect in the midfield.
The players we cannot replace are increasing.
1. Grundy
2. Errol
3. Rowbottom
4. Blakey
5. Jordon
I think the roles these play are amazing and irreplaceable with like for like players.Comment

If he hasn’t got votes from a game this season before this one, Rowbottom’s Brownlow “duck” should definitely be broken after this one.

Maybe not completely wrong, there were plenty expecting big things from him this year (inclusing his team-mates) - ha's had an nightmare injury wiseComment

He is a fine player in his own right - I've always held him in high regard (as many would recall from the many arguments I had with old TheBloods back in the day), but I think the growing confidence in the midfield group has helped him push the boundaries of his game a bit further as well. I just hope we see more rip roaring moments like that brilliant pick up and then pinpoint delivery to McDonald on the weekend. If he adds that more to his bow (his kicking is a bit hit and miss - but I think better than what some rate it at) then not only will he be a key enabler in his own right, but another weapon in the arsenal as well.
I still have huge hopes for Sheldrick in time too - think he will be a ripper. But as other people have said, this year for him has been stuffed by injury it seems."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Coaches votes for the game. If Rowbottom gets to this round without a Brownlow vote, this should see him break his duck. And I was going to say that it should bring a huge cheer from the Swans table, but then I realised, that most of team would probably still be in Sydney and having a quiet night while preparing for the grand final.

And the leader board. Heeney has extended his lead. Gulden is up to fourth and Grundy has snuck on to it.
