OK RaWO crew. We theorise on Brownlow, final eight, wooden spoon etc etc. So now let?s have your tips for coach moves and replacements for 2004 and close season.

Who will get sacked

and who will replace them?

My stab?.

Frawley end of season ? Eade

Schwab end of season - Wallace

Ayres ? end of season ? Neil Craig

Mark Williams ? end of season ? Mark Harvey

I reckon Mark Williams will be out of Port at or before the end of the year. And I reckon it'll be with a sigh of relief - only Tigers fans are more feral.

I have a very strong feeling that Wallace will get the Tigers and Eade will coach Hawthorn.

From my understanding some at Hawthorn have never forgiven Wallace's move to the Bulldogs as a player, plus I think he would love to coach Browny again. (not that coaching Browny would be a big factor!)

But all just a feeling of course.

My guess is that Williams and Thompson will both survive - the former because the Power will go close to the flag (even without Primus and Francou) and the latter because the Cats board will give Bomber another year to rebuild. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of either, but I just feel they will last out any crisis.

Frawley and Ayres will clearly go but the speculation is that to sack either mid-season would not be fair nor in best interests of finding a replacement.

Schwab may also survive, but his additional problem is the number of qualified Hawk legends ready to take over.

Not sure if either Rocket or Plough will get a gig next year though, when you consider the damage to their reputation done in 2002. When was the last time a previously sacked coach was appointed at a new club? Matthews? That path to finding a new coach may be a thing of the past.

I personally believe that the success of Paul Roos as a senior coach has ruined the future coaching career of Rodney Eade.

Unfortunately, Rocket's coaching style was up there for all to see. In his final few years with Sydney, they were mediocre to poor and it had more to do with lack of player development, long term goals and big picture strategy than his lauded game day tactics.

I would be very surprised if any AFL club employed Rocket as senior coach.

Plough does have a better chance at either Hawthorn or Richmond, but I reckon that is only because both clubs would be assessing that a "fresh young approach" to coaching did not work with Peter and Danny.

When the Crows and Don's employ a new coach, it will be one of those inspired promotions/employment of an assistant to the senior role.

I don't think that will have anything at all to do with it. Rocket is highly rated by a lot of people, and was actually more successful than Roos was if you want to compare both men's first years.

I agree that Wallace would be a better chance, he has a wonderful football reputation, but Eade will be sought after, no doubt at all, he is a grand final coach, and coached a competitive team for a long time.

His time ran out at Sydney, I can't see why he wouldn't work well at another club.

Sounds like the sort of culture Richmond are famous for. He may be a shoe-in there if they continue to recruit big names during the off-season!

Not that it means much but Richmond fans want Wallace and don't want a bar of Eade.

The resurgence of the Swans (largely same playing group) under Roos has damaged Eade's reputation immensely.

I think Wallace will be announced as new Tigers coach in 2005 by mid season. He will be given the brief to overhall the playing list and develop young kids.

Eade may end up at Hawthorn but it will more likely be Gary McDonald or Mark Harvey who are the two best-credentialled assistants going around.

Adelaide would be less likely to go for an untested coach but perhaps Darren Jarmen (currently an assistant to Ayres) may be worth a punt.

Kevin Sheedy to re-sign with Essendon and run 1,000 miles from returning to Punt Road (to prove he still has some common sense about him).

Gary Ayers is a Grand Final coach too but I don't expect him to get scooped up by another club in 2005. Gary will not coach again at senior level after this year.

I think you need to understand that Rocket is a spent force at AFL level. I have nothing against the bloke at all but did you enjoy his coaching methods from 1999 onwards? Those of us too close to it didn't realise just how ugly the footy was that we played.

I pity the teams like Geelong that have to play ugly just to be competitive.

Gary Ayres is hardly a good example! - he was a GF coach with Geelong and then went to Adelaide. Failures to nab a premiership at two clubs is always going to spell death. Especially when they thought they had brought one and it still wasn't delivered.

I don't believe Eade is a spent force at all, his pressures were a lot different than the ones on Roos. Eade was never told it was alright to lose as long as you are rebuilding, a competitive top 8 team was demanded year in year out so that the swans could hold on to the bandwagon. I really don't think our 2001/2 form is a fair indication of what type of coach Eade is.

But each to their own - he will eithier coach or he won't.
IMO he will coach again.

Wallace to Richmond.

Eade to Hawthorn.

I think Eade will bring back tough, accountable footy Hawks were once famous for. Expect a challenge from Don Scott who would destroy the current "pretty boy" culture that has infected the club (Main perpertartor=Shane Crawford).

I also think former coaches DO learn from their mistakes. A capable coach like Eade would have reflected and reformulated his philosophy.
