Port in front 27 pts final 1/4

This is becoming one of the dakest days of my life. Be afraid people, be very afraid. Port's first quarter violent aggression was pure John Cahill. I hate Port so much.

Same - I'm so depressed I had to stop watching.

I planned to put $100 on Port to win, but forgot, so I'm doubly annoyed.

I have no interest in anything football until next year now (except for our trades). I plan to severely limit any thoughts about football during the off season as it will just bring back the pain!!

[Ah - I don't feel as bad now it is a new day!!]

On another note, how good does Notting look. Did a few great things and I reckon he'd be fantastic in our midfield. Now that Brisbane has lost, he may be more inclined to move and may also not command as big a price tag as he might have if they'd won.

So Port Adelaide have won their first national AFL Premiership, when will our turn come? Surely we as a club must be some of the longest sufferers in sport, similar to the defunct North Sydney Rugby League club who had not won since 1922.

Can Roosey take us to a flag within the next 5 years? If Brisbane can win 3 in a row why can't we win even one?

At least its the end of the Brisbane ara and hopefully just a one hit wonder for Port. Mark Williams is such a c***. His arsehole bahaviour at the end has only won more supporters to my cause -to hate Port no matter who they are playing.

Turned it off so I didn't have to listen to nor see Williams - one of the biggest tools in football!

Now Port has won, we are only one of two interstate teams not to have won a flag in the AFL. Just underlines how poor we've been! Hopefully this can turn around in the next couple of years - if not, then when!?!

Yep, you guessed it, the North Sydney Bears were my team in league. Maybe if I stay away the Swans will win. Think I'll take a swim off the Gap.

The better team won on the day, but Mark Williams really is the biggest tool in football.

He could have saved that comment for a later time, but no, he had to show how much of a stick it up em attitude he has.

And who ruffles the hair of an umpire after the game either?

The guy is a tosser coaching a team full of tossers....

              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

I think Port beat Brisbane at their own game and gave them the same dose of medicine Brisbane inflicted on St Kilda in QF. What goes around comes around.
Deserved win for Port. Now, who is going to dethrone Port next year?

I don't think so, perfect timing. That guy came out in the media after the Prelim Final lost last season and said he would withdraw his sponsorship if the Power didn't sack him. Williams has every right to remind him he was wrong and if I was in his shoe I would of done the same thing.

I guess people don't want to see coaches show their true emotions on a day like that

I don't ever recall seeing Rodney Eade going "hah stick that up your ass!!" after achieving what we did in 96 after that horror start when everyone wanted him sacked, and weren't afraid to say so in public.

Williams' comment just seemed very childish to me - why not focus on having just achieved the pinnacle of your coaching career thus far, rather than childishly and publicly airing dirty laundry for the whole nation to see, and taking the limelight away from you and your players having just kicked arguably the best team of the modern era off their pedestal? Instead of showing grace, humility and deserving jubilation at having won, Williams has just confirmed himself as a right royal tool (as Mike so succinctly stated!).

Well, it was the best day of my life.....been waiting so long for this!!!

And for those of you having a go a Choco about his acceptance speach & him having a go at Allan Scott, all he said was that Scott was wrong....which is the truth. Scott never had any business saying that Choco should've been sacked last year. Anyway, Scott should just be happy now that he's associated with a premiership team!! Choco's speach was great....he's a great coach, he wears his heart on his sleeve & now he's a Premiership coach!!

                          I have to agree.

I was going for Brisbane during the game, but I have to admit Port's celebrations and Choco's speech made me feel pretty good for some reason. (I go for Port in the SANFL, his speech reminded about just how fine your history is)

Congratulations to Port. Hope we can experience that joy one day!

Grow a brain will you. Some of the posting on this thread has been so deluded and bitter it is truly pathetic. Hence I've posted mainly on Bigfooty only.

It was the Lions starting most of the rough stuff. Port, as is their nature didn't shirk the issue. Lynch's roid rage attack at Wakelin was a frigging disgrace. What did wakelin do to deserve that.

I swear Jonathon Brown is the DIRTIEST player in the game. A temper even worse than Barry's. Always involved in unsavory incidents.

What about Akermanis's constant whingimg to get a free-kick through the match?
What about reports of Brisbane players preparing Norm Smith medal speeches in the change room?

My good mate Paralowie Power called me shortly after the GF. I was one of the 1st people he called. I was stoked for him that his team won the flag, as he would be if we were in that position.

Whether you like them or not, I think we should look at how Port do it. 7 years in the comp and Minor Premiers after 5, and Premiers after 7. Not the biggest Williams fan either, but an articulate mind-manored coach would never fit in at a club like Port.

I was shocked that Alan Jones of all people gave a empassioned tribute to not only Port adelaide by the Williams family today on 2GB. He called them "Australia's most successful sporting family". I was shocked he knew so much not only about AFL, but SANFL and Adelaide culture. For once I was quite impressed.

As people were asking at the Sydney Aussie Rules club, we have to look at the fact that a club like Port can go in and win the flag in next to no time. Yet we have to wait since 1933.

Like them or hate them, we could still learn a hell of a lot from a club like Port Adelaide.
