You think Voss would be above it but i was also very disappointed with hird's performance on this front on Sat. He got a couple of legitimate PIBs early & then went to ground every time he was in a contested situation after that.
PLAYERS who throw their head back with a whiplash motion when legally tackled.
Port Adelaide's Gavin Wanganeen is the untouchable king of whiplash, but, generally, the umpires have worked him out. He doesn't appear to get as many unwarranted frees for high tackles.
The Swans are always ignored by the Melbourne media. I think our own Monty deserves a mention in this section!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Wangers has also perfected the art of twisting his body when tackled so that a great LEGAL tackle becomes what appears to be a PIB.
I believe that staging/diving should be part of the video review.
Any such acting effort that attempts to deceive the ump into awarding an incorrect free should earn the actor some suspension penalty points (maybe enough so that two, or perhaps three, stages will earn a week off). A few suspensions would soon kill off the worst of this behaviour.
The acting would need to be unambiguous though to earn the penalty (Voss's effort meets this criteria).
It's just a part of the game. Cressa won a game with it, so I can't complain. It's just another great thing to boo and/or laugh at. Would be a shame to lose the GF on it but no amount of suspension will change that possibility.
Actually, the frustrating thing is that Bazza is robbed because he doesn't stage. The umpires refuse to believe that he is being unfairly handled because he doesn't throw himself forward.

Spider Everitt said this exact same thing on White Line Fever last night when the topic of treatment of forwards by the umpires was raised. Tredrea is another who cops a raw deal, because like Baz, he doesn't go to ground like Lloyd tends to, and so the umpires seem less likely to be of the view he has been infringed upon.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Interesting that on WLF last nite both Spider & Ox as good as said it is exactly this aspect of his game that makes him more a better player than Lloyd. Coz he keeps his feet he can compete for the second efforts etc. Two great snapped goals from BBBH on Sat support the view.
Right now, comparing the respective career trajectories of the 2, it is difficult to dispute - I'd take Baz every time.

Hird is near untouchable, isn't he? It drove us mad on Saturday night the ticky touch free-kicks both he and "Harry High Pants" Matthew Lloyd were getting.
Voss seriously is not above it. His dive right in front of us at the SCG was a complete disgrace. And we let him know about it in no uncertain terms!
Voss is a terrible cynical diver. I thought he was above that sort of stuff; unfortunately he isn't.

Free kick with a 50 metre penalty with a report will get rid of the problem quick fast.
There is no need for it and it was one of the biggest problems in soccer until they fixed it with yellow cards.
Thankfully with more cameras at the ground and slow mo technology advancing to the point of frame by frame action reply, the actors and divers now stand out more than ever.
Leave diving to the pros at the olmpic pool thanks.

I agree. I think maybe diving should be seen as a reportable offense. And that trial by video could be used to enforce bad cases of it that the umpires have missed.
You say it has has been wiped out of the game in futbol Diego. I completely disagree. Watch the Serie A and players like Bippo Inzaghi, one of the biggest divers in the business. And still getting away wth it as well.
Luckily at Korea-Japan 2002 they used trial by video to charge players with the offense of 'simulation'. Rivaldo rightly got suspended for a shocking dive that changed a match against Turkey. But alas it was to lte to change the result of that match. Had Rivaldo been carded then and there, it would be arguable to say that they'd not have won the match and would't have gotten out of their group.
