I was expecting Sydney to draft one of two forwards (Belloni went to Essendon at pick 9, and Rasheed ended up at Adelaide with pick 13). The Swans ended up drafting Zippy Fish, a player whom I am rather pleased with. She's gone from no football experience at all to a top 5 draft pick in six years, which is a measure of her talent. Another measure is her strong performances against experienced women in the WAFL. Watch some highlights videos and other information, I think she's a good choice.

      Other players drafted by Sydney:
      • 56 Amelia Martin (Sydney Swans Academy)
      • 59 Caitlin Reid (a ruck prospect?)
      • 61 Sarah Steele-Park (mature age player, served as a runner for the Swans AFLW team)

the draft leaves us with 32 players the same number as 2024 with 1 retiree.5 delistings,3 trade outs,5 trade ins and 4 draft picks. is this right and are we on the allowed number or do we still get compensation as a relative new aflw team?

List is 30, not 32. Three players retired, not one.

          Arrivals
Trade: 4 (Imogen Brown, Ashleigh Van Loon, Darcy Moloney, Lulu Pullar)
Delisted free agent: 1 (Jasmine Grierson)
Draft: 4 (Zipporah "Zippy" Fish, Amelia Martin, Caitlin Reid, Sarah Steele-Park)
          Total: 9

          Departures
Retired: 3 (Hayley Bullas, Brooke Lochland, Alana Woodward)
Delisted: 5 (Paige Sheppard, Lisa Steane, Lauren Szigeti, Eliza Vale, Aimee Whelan)
Trade: 3 (Montana Beruldsen, Ella Heads, Bella Smith)
          Total: 11

            For what it's worth, the following numbers are available for our new AFLW players: 1, 4, 11, 12, 13, 17, 21, 22, 23, 28, 32 and up.

Previous list size was 32. Player numbers went to 33 with number 17 unassigned this year. With the list size dropping to 30, it is likely that 32 and 33 (previously assigned to Hayley Bullas and Montana Beruldsen) will not be given out this year unless a player specifically requests these numbers.

I have no idea who might get what numbers.

guess moloney might get 4 her number at cats other trades numbers already used. zippy might get 1.

I was watching a replay of the draft video yesterday that mentioned Fish's similar playing style to Conti including playing with the number 4 (at 38:37). I think Fish may want the number 4 as well.

We will see in coming days who gets what number.
