    AFLW 2025 Rnd 3 v Geelong

This week's game is Saturday afternoon against Geelong away. The Swans have named an unchanged team.

A video showing how the Swans AFLW team are scoring so efficiently.

The Deep Dive: Why Molloy’s Swans are so dangerous

Over the first two rounds the Swans have scored a goal from about one in four inside 50 entries.

Gemma Bastiani is very knowledgeable when it comes to the Swans, I love it when she commentates our VFL matches.

I think Geelong will be a much more formidable opponent than their ladder position implies. I watched them vs. Adelaide and they were really hard to score against for 3 quarters. Their contested game is really strong, Prespakis in particular is a gun - I expect Tanya Kennedy will go to her. They don't appear to have a lot of height around the ground, and their rucks are a bit meh so perhaps we can exploit that.
I'm hopeful we will get up but I don't think it will be by more than a couple of goals.

Your assessment is spot on. Geelong were hard to score against in the first quarter. They scored three goals while holding the Swans to one point.

The Swans managed to get in front in the second quarter with four goals. All seven goals have been scored at the same end.

Didn't expect to be in front at half time, after being dominated in the first quarter. I'm only listening on the radio and the commentators are unsure if there's much wind. Is there a strong wind advantage? Or did we just play a whole lot better?

One interesting aside that the commentators mentioned, is that our backup ruck, Caitlin Reid, is also an ER surgeon.

Very entertaining match, hopefully we can go on with it. We are pressuring them into turnovers, then denying them possession with kick-mark. Really good quarter from Hurley and Ham, and they couldn't keep Fish down.
Love what Scotty has done so far.

I was getting a bit impatient for a Molloy goal.

Such a good win against a hard and desperate opponent. The standard of football is so good this season, made even better that the Swans are flying!

Team performance with no real passengers, but for me: 3 Votes - Hurley; 2 - Morphett; 1 - Molloy
Ham, Fish, Gardiner and Kennedy were all good, and Grierson was a rock in defence.
                  Now bring on Freo!

I suppose we shouldn't get carried away as the 3 teams we've beaten have not won a game between them but it's very nice to be 3 zip with two of our wins being away victories.

I love the fact that Morph and Sofia have built into their seasons. They weren't poor, by any means, in the first two games but I thought they each had a lot more to contribute. Today they did just that.

Molloy in the middle added some class to the grind, but without her in the forward line, we do lack dangerous scoring options. It's great that we had different players contribute so much, but missing that one (or two) marking target in front of goal might prove a problem against the very best teams (and even some of the middle rung teams).

It's true that the opponents we've beaten so far are all in the bottom four without a win.

It's also true that they are in the bottom four because we've beaten them.

Nevertheless, it's going to take games against stronger opponents before it's possible to assess the strength of the team.

It could be worse I suppose. Hawthorn haven't lost a game either, but their latest win was by four points in a game where neither team managed to score a goal during the last half or score anything at all in the last quarter. A scoreline of 2.2 (14) to 1.4 (10) isn't as exciting as 7.8 (50) to 6.9 (45).
