    AFLW 2025 Round 4 v Collingwood

The Sydney Swans women will play Collingwood at Victoria Park on Saturday at 1.05 pm. It is the first game of the round.

This game has the makings of a danger game. Collingwood have only won one game so far, an eight-point win over the winless Giants. However, Collingwood kept up with Melbourne all game before losing by four points in their last match at Victoria Park. They should not be taken lightly, especially at home.

The Sydney women are nearly at full strength, with the only injuries being Maddy Collier (ankle, season), Kiara Hillier (concussion, test) and Sofia Hurley (foot 2 to 3 weeks). Hurley was a significant injury, but her absence should be covered.

Assistant coach Tanya Hetherington shares a few thoughts on the forthcoming match here: Tanya's Take, presented by Bird in Hand - Round 5.

Yep, they shouldn't be taken lightly. They were beaten by North by 45 points, but they had a really strong defensive performance, especially in the first half. Much the same as Freo V NM in the previous round they competed well around the contest and were only overpowered with North's outside ball movement. Hopefully we can do the same, but with two excellent defensive units I don't think it will be high scoring.
Anyway, haven't been to Victoria Park since the 90's, so that will be an experience. What are my chances of getting a soy latte at the ground do you reckon?

Note: This is a round 5 game, not a round 4 game as shown in the title of the thread.

Teams: Martin comes in to the team with Privitelli omitted. Does anyone have an idea why Privitelli is being omitted here? Is she down on form, or is it a more tactical selection?

I have no idea why Privitelli is missing again. She has been quite subdued when in the team, but you'd think she would be essential for any sort of run in the finals. Gowans hasnt said anything that would give an insight that I have seen - he has focussed on just wanting Martin in the team. So maybe it is just form?

Could we go through the game goalless???

          Fortunately, no.

Did someone show them the Mens 2024 grand final during the week. Utterly terrible today. Doesn't help missing from dead in front 30 metres out either.

The holding the ball rule in AFLW is beyond a joke - there will be riots if they try to go the same way in AFLM at any point.

                Other results this weekend:
Melbourne lost to Port Adelaide by 2 points for their first loss of the year.
GWS got their first win of the season.
St Kilda thumped Essendon, giving Essendon their second loss in a row after three consecutive wins.
Adelaide gave Hawthorn their first loss of the year.

So three undefeated teams had their first loss and one winless team got their first win.

Saw this result yesterday.....big shock. Did the ladies get cocky?

Have to say, that Montana Ham goal in the last quarter was a ripper. She is certainly an athlete!
