And further recognition of Morphett's performance yesterday now comes in the form of a Rising Star nomination.

I was very impressed with Morphett last season (and so young).

As soon as I saw her in this first match I noticed her trimmed body shape. Gowans mentions in his press conference video how hard Ally has worked on her fitness all through off season.

She is going to be a super star. My fear is that she will be wooed by other clubs. (Players change clubs in the AFLW more often than I change my bed sheets.) Management need to do whatever is needed to keep her a Swan!

Have you watched the interview of Ally by Sarah Black embedded in that RS article? It might reassure you. She's a NSW native, albeit from the border regions rather than Sydney. She grew up as a Swans supporter, and loves the "Bloods culture".

So long as our team becomes and remains competitive in the medium term, I can't see of any reason for her to jump ship.

But no reason for any other club to be able to pay more than the Swans are able to. Of course, another club might choose to pay her more than the Swans choose to in order to lure her away. But we must have fewer "stars" on our list than pretty much every other side, at least at the moment.

Ok, that settles it. She’s a Swan for life. [emoji3]

Much harder at the ball than us particularly in the first quarter - and I think you helped there Scotty Gowans.
You got away with it this time, but please no more trash talking the opposition club before the game - Pretty please, with sugar on top.
Footy Classified actually spent a little time on our AFLW win on Monday, but made a similar observation (to my own) regarding Scott Gowans' unusual comments about the GWS AFLW team.
Suggested he should make like Horse, and say nothing about the opposition.
